Last year I implemented a program where $150 was donated to charity with every closing.  The first $50 is donated to a charity of my choosing and the remaining $100 is donated to a charity (or charities) of my client's choosing.

Despite a relatively slow year I was still able to make hundreds of dollars of donations to several wonderful charities including:

  • American Heart Association
  • Angie Houtz Memorial Fund
  • Clinton/Bush Haiti Fund
  • Doctors Without Borders
  • Eastern Virginia Medical School
  • Elton John AIDS Foundation
  • Food for the Poor
  • Interfaith Community Against Domestic Violence
  • Keep a Child Alive
  • Mental Health Association of Montgomery County
  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure
  • Unicef
  • Walk MS
At the end of the year we planned a major charity program where we donated 80 bags of cleaning supplies to formerly homeless clients of the Mental Health Association of Montgomery County.

.Cleaning Bags for Charity

This charity program was well received by clients and brought me great joy in 2010 and will be continued through 2011 and beyond.

One of my favorite parts of this program was the chance to learn about several new charities and learn the things that are important to my clients.

I'm looking forward to the wonderful charities that I will be able to support this year.

You are so nice!  What a great idea to have a set amount and a plan.  I'm not homeless or formerly homeless and even I would like one of those bags!  It must make the people feel good to receive something so classy and nice looking.

I really like the way you structure your contributions - you get to choose, as does the client. Well done!
