The Calm Before the Storm- What’s on the TO DO List?

By
Real Estate Agent with Liberty Homes RS-#62825

I'd been pretty busy the prior few months to the holidays and then it was just...slower.   I actually slept in yesterday morning until 6am. WOW. I lay in bed gazing at our ceiling and thinking that I don't have to jump out of bed.....YET.  I have two appointments scheduled for morning for a seller and a buyer and had morning thoughts about the last couple of months.

As in most parts of the country the period after the holidays...or maybe after winter is done.... the housing market starts to pick up. Our market seems to be picking up and I thought about how I utilized my time during the calm period.

Okie Dokie then.  I thought about all the things I needed to do before the ‘storm' hit. During the last couple of months I did work on and/or completed a few tasks and this just may just give you a couple of ideas on what you can work on during your down time too.

  • ‘Cleaned out' my pc of unwanted pictures, video files and outdated information. (this is an ongoing process so I have more that built up within the last month J) I try and do this regularly every two to three months.
  • That Pre Listing PowerPoint file is still a work in progress J  Some of you may use a pre lisiting packet and it may come in handy for me for those clients who are just not ready ....yet.
  • Updated my Listing Presentation file (and using it on my listing appointment this morning) although this is a constant work in progress as each property is different and mine include a comprehensive CMA with graphs, maps etc for the comparable listings.
  • Updated my Buyer and Seller brochures and at one point wiped out the whole thing and decided I'm going to complete these new ones (rather than updated ones J)
  • Got caught up with updating my www.hawaiihomesmarket.com website and added a community tour on the home page.  I did a revamp (with a little help from a wonderful friend) and the pages and links are cleaner, crisper and are all MINE. J
  • Updated my Military BAH chart for 2011 and added to my website and buyer's folders.  I also cleaned up my "Military New Client" folder to include all up to date information for those military clients that are relocating to Hawaii.
  • Wrote more posts for ActiveRain and managed to hold a Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul contest....which by the way was a success! Remember, keeping up to date on your blog will serve it's purpose in showing consistency and up to date info!

Okay, this list is getting pretty long although I think you all get the jest of this. There is always plenty to do to get in gear for that mad rush that's going to hit this year.

"Predictions for 2011" kept me busy and productive.

I'll keep a positive attitude...And keep reminding myself that balance...

...hard work, dedication and consistency is key to success.

There are good storms....right?

Wow Sally you have been busy..and smart to get it done before the storm. We are picking up as well. I will be out with 2 sets of buyers this week, which will hopefully turn into 2 transactions. Have a great week!

Whoa......you're on the fast track to bringing in the new year.....way to go Sally!  I had been hoping that this past week I'd have the chance to 'clean' up quite a few things but my buyers are ready to go and the year took off in a flash.  My plan is to spend an hour or so every day cleaning up files, updating etc. It can be too overwhelming these days......I try to keep it all in perspective.  And clients come first!

Barb:  Every day is a busy day for me. It's like second nature to get into a catch up mode when things get slow....now look. Tax time and clients to take care of. Signing next week, listing yesterday and though the one buyer cancelled...we rescheduled to next week.

Tax time.....ughhh..I've completed all my expenses..and talked to my tax man...who broke his leg!

Salkly - you sure got a lot done.

It's hard to keep up with all the clean up, organizing, and revising sometimes. The holidays turned out to be a pretty good time for that. Like others, things are heating up again. Hope it continues.

Hi Sally, just wanted you to know I went to your website and checked it out. I remember when you launched it. Very nice! I watched the video on military relocation, way to go! I just love it! I am afraid of the camera, so I don't know if I can do that, but wow, you were super!!!!!

You are off to a flyiing leap for 2011, way to go!

Andrea: Hey...all I can say is that the video/shows make a difference...as long as they can get something out of it...I did my job for those :)
