Let Go and LET IT BE....

By
Home Stager with Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island #888

The Law of Attraction, The Vision Board, Our Intentions---they all are very powerful and they certainly do work.  What we put our focus on, we create.  There is also a paradox to this:  oftentimes what WE want is not what the "Universe" (fill in your own special word here) has other plans for us.  It is entirely possible that what you think you want so very much just isn't the best thing for you, not at this time.

Feng Shui Long Island

Many people get frustrated, say it doesn't "work" and stop any Energy Intent at all.  They lose their focus and oftentimes get depressed.  I've seen it with Feng Shui if they don't get "instant" results and I've seen it with many people who have watched "The Secret," give it a month and quit applying the rules and principles.

So what if it's not working for you?  You've put your energy, intention, focus, affirmations into everything you do and it still hasn't created the outcome you expected?  One of the things NOT to do is become depressed.  Things may not only work on YOUR timetable.  The "I Want it NOW" approach is not always in your best interests.  It is sometimes in the very difficult act of simply letting go that you will get back exactly what you are seeking to create.

When you let go, you are surrendering what YOU think is the best possible thing for you to a "higher power."  It then takes its own shape and form and you can get some real results.  They may not always be what YOU want but you've shifted the energy into creating change.  I  KNOW the word CHANGE is to some people a frightening word.   They are perfectly content and always wish for things to remain the same.  Life doesn't work that way.

At a recent visit to a client's home she wanted one thing and only one thing:  the return of a long lost lover.  She put all her thought processes and all her intention into trying to draw this person back into her life.  And it isn't working.....When I had advised her both at the beginning of our Feng Shui session and in many follow up emails, at a certain point it's time to "Let Go."  And see what else the Universe has in mind for her.  For her it's extremely difficult.  He may or may not come back to her but she is missing the here and now by just waiting for the "possible" future.

Feng Shui Consultant

I want to be in the moment, I want to be aware and I know that the best possible outcome for ME is around the corner.  It's impossible to worry about everything and it's a waste of time.  We all have a destiny, we all help create it and some of it is out of our hands.  Although it may not feel like it, surrendering is an act of taking back your power.  I know it sounds like a paradox but it isn't.  It's one difficult thing to do.  But if you're stuck somewhere, if you're not enjoying the "here and now" for what it is, try it.  Sometimes you just need to stop fighting for what YOU think is best and let the universe handle things.

HI, I think this post is misunderstood by some.  I absolutely believe in all the things I mentioned and use them all the time:  Intention, The Law of Attraction, A vision board, Affirmations....But before you give up in despair, it's time to SURRENDER.  That, to me, is getting back your own POWER.  Things do not always work on our timetable which is not to say they don't happen.  Sometimes the Universe just have different plans for us.  Surrendering to a higher power is a Good Thing and a Positive Reaction!

Beautiful post, Carole, and I understand exactly what you are saying.

I try to stay in that 'zone' of being in surrender to what the universe has determined is best for me and hence for those whose lives I am impacting by my actions. Sometimes I lose the communication line with the universe (because some days I forget to open it) and those are the times I end up in trouble. Once I re-open the lines of communication and surrender to the universe's will , instead of my own perhaps misguided one, I am set back on the right track and things begin to flow along smoothly again.

Thanks for writing this....it is exactly what I needed to read this morning.

Carole - Very uplifting post! I always try to think positively and it has worked for me.  My mother always said "If it's meant to be...it's meant to be."  Not sure if she was right, but it works for me!

Such an important concept. If you have tips on HOW to let go (different methods people can use for difficult problems), please share them!

Carole.  I agree with you.  At least I think I agree with you.

What I love about the blogging (with certain authors) on AR, is that we can discuss the finer points of an already simple argument.  Today, I'm finding myself immersed in discussion that relates to semantics.  People who disagree sometimes really don't.  They're just not expressing themselves in a parallel way to one another.  This is why I say "At least I think I agree with you".

My two key terms (for my life, right now) are authenticity and acceptance.

Authenticity, because the more I allow myself to be who I am, the happier I am, and the more successful (in ways that matter to me) I become.  This is completely logical, but often absent in a culture where everyone dyes their hair, even when it's already beautiful.  But I digress.

Acceptance, because, if you "go with the flow" of what comes to you in the course of each day, you spend less energy fighting battles you can't win anyway.  [This point bears much more explaining, especially when speaking with teenagers.....know what I mean?  But for the purposes of this comment, I cease here.]

So, please tell me.  Do we agree?

Cheers! from DC...

It's impossible to worry about everything and it's a waste of time.

I seem to be reading many posts where a line catches my full attention....this line completes the whole thing. I want to give my energy to something that will be rewarding. (even in a negative situation...there is always something positive in it.)

Hi Carole,
All this is so true and so simple.  So simple, that most people cannot accept it or is it because we want to be in control and think we know what is best?  How many times have things not turned out the way we wanted them to and later say or think "thank goodness it did not happen the way I wanted it to, this is so much better".

Keep us on the right track.  Thank you.

Simon, I believe I was not clear in my post.  I live my life by The Secret and have been doing so for years.  There is also The Law of Allowance and that's what I was addressing here in the meaning of "Letting Go."  You can still think positive but when your energy is only focused on one thing, you are likely missing out on many other opportunities and also missing what the Universe is trying to send you.

Fran, Thank you for your comment and advice but I'm referring to different principles here. Letting go to let a higher power take over is sometimes the very best thing you can do and it does empower you.

Cheryl, Thank you, you  perhaps said it better then I did.  If we are too focused and too determined on one thing we can be missing what is intended for us to happen.  There are many Universal Laws I believe but we have to Allow others things to come into our lives without being stuck on one thing.

Jo, Thank you.  I sometimes an not in alliance with what the Universe is intending for me and I'm fighting it....to me, surrendering is not a paradox to The Secret or Feng Shui, it is trying to become more in alignment with the Universe.

Candy, Thank you!  I believe there is a empowerment in surrender although others may see that in a different light.  When you keep fighting something that wasn't supposed to happen it may well have been that it was not in your best interest.  WE don't always know what's best for us----although we may think we do.

Janice, I think your mother was exactly right' I believe that wholeheartedly.  If it was "meant to be" it will happen, otherwise you are spinning your wheels.  I  like your mother!!

Deborah, Learning Allowance was (and is) very difficult for me.  Because I know what I WANT to happen but it doesn't mean I'm going to get the right results.  So many things in life are lessons for us, there is no one way to Let Go other then to focus on that and ask for whatever is meant to come your way to come into your life.  Sometimes it's only much later that you see that it's better that you can't control everything.

Jaynee, I, too, Think we agree!  Authenticity:  Well, I think everyone who knows anything about me knows I'm pretty authentic; you have to be to be happy!  I have always been exactly WHO I AM (sometimes much to the dismay of others who would have chosen some "traditional path" for me to follow)!  Acceptance:  I do focus and put intention into what I want but I will not get in despair if I don't get it...that's when I need to look at The Law of Allowance and see if I am hindering that by my own focus on things the Universe has not intended for me.  It's time to Go With the Flow.  Do we agree :) ?

Sally, There is something positive in everything, even a difficult lesson we have to learn.  As long as we learn it and move on we're doing just fine.  Worrying never helped, it is a waste of energy and that's too precious to waste.  Thank you for your comment.

Cynthia, Thank you.  It does sound like a paradox but I can't help but think the Law of Allowance will turn up in The Secret, Part Two.  I think that not many people are familiar with it, perhaps I should have named it in the post or made it more clear.  And I can think of SO many times when I am glad I didn't "get what I wanted!"

Whew, was I clear at all??

Joan, That is wonderful.  I was trying to write that very name into an email the other day and I wondered how the heck to spell it....Boy, are you good!  And yes, it fits, thank you!

Kathy, Thank you, I think people thought I was on a negative bend.  This is another way of looking at things and I love different perspectives.  I wish you a wonderful day!

I was going to write what Joan wrote, but she wrote it first! Que Sera!

Another way of saying this might be that we cannot change what "others" do or think. The person you refer to in your blog can only change her own thoughts.

I'm glad I saw this post. It just reaffirms what I try to live by:)

Hi Carole...My Dad used to sing this song to my Mom when something would not turn out as expected and for some reason your post made me think of it.....( now this was back in the 60's I think so some of you may not remember...It was a country song

I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden, along with the sunshine, theres gotta be alittle rain sometimes :)

and then he would say....maybe the Rainbow will come later...just forget about it for awhile now...(I think that was his way of letting go of the situation).

Thanks for sharing

Carol, I usually ask "if it's your will" because I sometimes really don't understand what is best for me. I don't think God allows any curve balls that he doesn't give us the strength and training to catch. It just takes time...

Karen, Thank you for stopping by and your comment.  The client I have is lovely but it's been a long time and she needs to turn her attention and thoughts to her business....a major concern for me in her life.  It's time for her to "Allow" what is supposed to come to her in and she may be blocking it.

Jaynee, I have just the handshake :)  Give me a ring one night if you can.

Grace, I love that song!  I remember hearing it when I was young.  That beautiful song fits this post perfectly.  It seems people are aware of The Law of Attraction but not the Law of Allowance---yet.

Diane, Yes, we're often so wrong on what we want to create and when we focus on nothing else, we are fighting what is supposed to happen.  It's wonderful to focus and attrack the positive but it's actually empowering to open up to what is supposed to come into your life instead of fighting it.

Hi Carole,

Great post! It is sad to see someone wasting her time hoping that someone will come back to her. She is missing out on who she could meet now that maybe is the right man for her. At times like you said we just have to let it go and let it be.

Diane, HI!  It's very difficult to do but sometimes it's the best thing.  For this client at this time, she needs to put her focus on other things, like business....Sometimes you just fight the way things are supposed to be.

Trace, I did speak to her recently and told her that you had done everything she can energetically....now it's up to a higher power (and to get back to work!)
