(Post #7 in the Why I Love Laramie series)

The beauty of Laramie is that we can still be in Wyoming, the least populated state in the U.S., but close enough to escape to the bustle of a city in just a day trip.  This may not sound like much, but in many other parts of Wyoming, going to a mall is a minimum of 3 hours one way!  Whereas we in Laramie can make it over to Cheyenne and our nearest mall in just 50 minutes (on a clear day).  We can do some shopping, even eat at someplace fancy like the Olive Garden, then head over the pass back home and still have hours left in the day.

For a major day trip we can drive just over 2 hours to Denver and spend the day at the Zoo, Museum of Natural History, whatever we want.  It's a real city and the possibilities are endless.  They even have a few major league sports teams.  Then at the end of the day, we can head back north going from 8 lanes of traffic, to 6 lanes at the north edge of Denver, to 4 lanes by Fort Collins and finally a nearly empty interstate by Cheyenne.  Soon enough, we get back to Laramie exhausted from all the driving, happy to have spent a day away but glad to be home to another pink Wyoming sunset.

I'm almost in Wyoming, lots of license plates from your State in mine due to no sales tax!

My daughter is driving home on I-25 to I-90 tomorrow on her way to Bozeman to get back to school, hope the roads are ok :)

Beautiful sky, but it sure looks cold there. 'Course, I'm kind of a novice when it comes to cold weather.

Brenda,  I really like your photo. I think Wyoming has some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the country. This photo makes Laramie look so peaceful and romantic.

Wanda - Yes, we down in this end escape to Denver and I've been told that lots of people up north head to Billings and Bozeman for their day out!  Hope your daughter made it back okay!

Karen - my husband would say you are so lucky to be a cold weather novice - he really does not like the cold!

Hi Gary - I was running out of photos so I took one from my daughters camera.  Not too bad.  We'll have to get another one that really captures the pink and orange next time.  Stay warm down there!
