I’ve been asked before, “Is it necessary to have a home inspection?”

And I always respond “YES”

Whether your house is new or old, a professional home inspection is a great asset to use. The seller doesn’t always know about every little problem in the house. And you might not want to buy into something that is going to cost you tons of money to fix up front.

Some people feel that if the home is new, it should have been inspected before it was put on the market, or that because it was just built, everything in the house is new, therefore won’t cause any problems. However, having a professional inspection done on a new home, can help locate any errors such as, missing insulation, incorrect drywall installation, incorrect elevations, incorrect materials used, or defective tile installation.

Gather as much information on the professional inspector that you chose to go with, and get recommendations from as many people as you can. When you decide which inspector you would like to you, get cost estimation and the scoop of service in writing. Also make sure that you are in the home, while the inspector goes to view it. You can gain some valuable information about the maintenance that the home may need, from this appointment.
