Can You Find Me A Realtor® Outside Of Denver To Help Us Buy A Home?
I often receive emails asking questions I am sure others would like to know the answer to. This series will answer some of those questions.
I received an email this morning from one of my friends and someone that I have also worked with as well.
He asks, Steve, We have decided to purchase a second home as a vacation home. We don't know any Realtors® in that area. Do you happen to know anyone that can help us out?
I figured that this may be a question that many have and an answer here could help several.
In short, Yes, I would love to help you and definitely can.
I have built a trusted network all over the US, and in a few case, outside of the US, of very professional real estate agents that I can call upon for referrals. But I don't just go down a list and see who is in the area. Many that come to my mind I have built a relationship with, I know their personality, I know how they run their business, and I know how they treat their clients.
The first thing I will do is if I already have someone in my mind, is give them a call. We will catch up and briefly discuss the basics of your situation and make sure my gut still tells me its a fit. Since there will be specifics about the home and area that you are interested in purchasing in, I will make sure it is an area that they are very educated in. If you are interested in a well property, I will make sure they are up to speed on that topic. Is the home a short sale or bank owned? I will be certain they are equipped to handled this process and all that can come with it. Looking to turn this into an income/rental property? I will be sure they know the ins and outs of what neighborhoods are best to purchase in for that. Completely relocating to a new area? I will be sure you are matched with a fun, local expert that will not only find you a great house and make your real estate transaction as seamless as possible, but I will make sure that they are going to get you as acclimated to the area as possible. Are you most comfortable communicating by text? I will be sure that preferred communication methods is something that is a match as well.
If I don't already know someone in the area that you are looking in, I will start with my online contacts. I have a valued resource with a real estate blogging community called Active Rain (where you found this post today!). I will read their blogs, make sure they do fit the same guidelines as above and that it is a good personality fit as well. I also have many more wonderful agents that I am work with and communicate with as I have built relationships through social networking. Same hold through though, I will scour their site, make sure they do know what they are talking about, and then talk to them and make sure it does feel right. Sometimes it can be a quick process, sometimes I spend several hours chatting with several Realtors.
I have found many Realtors for past clients, friends and even family members in the past and I am happy to do that for you.
Let me know more about what you are looking for in your vacation home and we will find a great Realtor® for you.

Steve,
Great question... and a great response to the question. One thing for sure Steve, you are very thorough! That would make me very confident with you as my Realtor... and if I wasn't in your area I would feel I could trust that you would find a Realtor that would be just right for me. This post says a lot about the professional and outstanding service you provide!
Brad - There really are a lot of great benefits. One of the best is all the information shared. Thank you for commenting.
Linda - Thanks for the kind words. It really is important to build a trusted network for referrals. If we can help our customers while helping eachother, it's a good win/win.
Steve we have been able to bring business to several agents over the last year. AR rocks. If you ever need someone on the western slope give me a call.

Steve, I am also careful about interviewing an agent that I refer a client to. I am new to AR and am looking forward to building a network like you have been able to do, it's just one more benefit of AR!
Hi Keith, It will happen. I made a referral today to an AR member from this very email.
