ATLANTA SNOW...OR...Snowpocalypse 2011!

So, I spent Christmas and New Year's in New York/New Jersey visiting family. And along with that, came 21+ inches of snow! I mean, good grief! I moved from Montana for several reasons, and one was to not have to deal with winter weather.

Maybe I should of stayed in Miami.

Last night, Atlanta was a bit more than dusted.....about 5-6 inches of fluffy white stuff came down. Ok, it looks pretty enough.  The Atlanta Snow has me staying home. I don't really need to go anywhere.

But then, like the Southern Belle stands atop the staircase and makes her grand entrance, we have another fine Southern tradition....freezing rain. I never understood the concept. Freezing rain.....what? But it's warmer higher up, and so it rains, but it's cold here on the ground, so it freezes on the way, or on contact with the ground. So now, our Atlanta Snow has a nice icy crust on it.

What does that all add up to? A mess. A Big mess. The City of Atlanta has 11, yes ELEVEN snow plows! I mean we do only get this once or twice a year. (Note to Mother Nature....Two times already. ENOUGH!)

Someone even made a Facebook event, if you are so inclined to attend!!!

Of course every possible thing that could be closed, is. I did hear there is a line around the block at a Starbucks in Midtown! I've got my coffee right here.

So the Bacon Cheddar Quiche is baking, hash browns will be cooking, and I'll be posting. What else is a Snow Day for anyway?

Here's another Atlanta Snow Story!

Eleven snow plows? Seriously? In the northeast they salt the roads the night before, plow all the main roads first thing, and then it's business as usual...Here it is definitely a snowpocalypse...anybody know where I can find a shovel???

Thanks for shedding light on why we always hear that the plows are out but can't see any real clearing of the snow.  I guess we should be thankful we only get a few inches and it normally melts by the next day.

Snow days makes for great work days, it's too cold to be out long and you can't really go anywhere.  Tomorrow will be my day for working on my posting.  Today was all about playing with my kids and making some great memories.

The state has plows, too.

I have been out driving for two days.  Stuff has to get done.

And with this "Global Warming"... Atlanta will need to get more plows.
