As a long time Austinite I am familiar with whats going on around town. I thought I would share some of that expertise with you. January is typically cold and a little rainy so indoor activities may be more fun. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of "Free Week" and many other events in and around Austin!

Free Week is from Jan 2-9 and it is Free admission to multiple clubs that have live music!

Hyde Park Frontera Fest-January 11-31. This is a month long  "fringe theater" festival. There is a blend of comedy/theater/musicals/dancing. There are multiple venues and times so please visit the website for details for each show: www.FronteraFest.org.

Austin Home and Garden Show-January 14-16. This is the perfect indoor event to get inspiration for your home and yard projects. There are many vendors that may have just what you need for that "honey-do list"! For more details about the speakers and workshops visit www.ShowTechnology.com before you go!

3M Half Marathon and Relay-January 30th- This race has a different charity each year that receives the proceeds from this race. This years charity is Any Baby Can. The race is either two person relay or individual race. Please register for the race at:  wwwSolutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3m/enUS/HalfMarathon/Home.

Lone Star Roller Girls-Come join the fun and excitementof "banked track" Roller Derby with the Lone Star Roller Girls! The dates change, but the live music and fun are constant. Roller Derby is so much fun they even made a movie about it staring Drew Barrymore and it was filmed in Austin! Visit www.TXRD.com for the latest dates and times!

Nerd Night- There is a monthly informal gathering of Nerds for drinks and fun. Check out their website to get details on the next gathering location www.Austin.NerdNight.com

Stubb's Gospel Brunch-This happens on Sunday as you would imagine. Make sure you have a reservation as this is a popular event and the good seats go fast! The brunch is delicious and the live music is worth the wait. For a list of each weeks perfomers please visit their website www.StubbsAustin.com.

As always I am not affiliated with any of these events. I am simply a local Realtor sharing my knowledge of our great town. So if your looking for a home in Austin give me a call.

Betina, there you are! Great selection of events, Sadly I will be skipping the 1/2 marathon this year, to many allergies to train and BTW I stopped at our local H E B for some Beanitos and they were out. The cool things is that the asst. manager told me that they were an extremely popular item so I will be back again! Nice to see you posting again!

Betina,  Austin is one place I enjoy visiting.  Born in raised in SA but moved to the Dallas area 20 years ago.  Looking one day to go back.   Now,  the roller derby..umm.. this is something I always wanted to do was watch first and then compete in a match.   I think I could handle a few times around the rink but the bad news is GIRL... I have not put on roller skates in years!  I would still love to do it.. may have a bone or two broken though.

I've been to the Austin Garden & Home Show several times. They always have some really cool new products available for home owners. The marathon is making me tired just thinking about it, lol.

Good evening Betina,

I just read a comment you made on Sheldon's post and you mentioned you went to Rain Camp in Houston in December. I went and did not see you:( Wish I had a chance to meet you! My name was drawn for a new Kindle at the end..I was glad we did not duck out early! I really got a lot out of the session!!
