As a long time Austinite I am familiar with whats going on around town. I thought I would share some of that expertise with you. January is typically cold and a little rainy so indoor activities may be more fun. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of "Free Week" and many other events in and around Austin!
Free Week is from Jan 2-9 and it is Free admission to multiple clubs that have live music!
Hyde Park Frontera Fest-January 11-31. This is a month long "fringe theater" festival. There is a blend of comedy/theater/musicals/dancing. There are multiple venues and times so please visit the website for details for each show: www.FronteraFest.org.
Austin Home and Garden Show-January 14-16. This is the perfect indoor event to get inspiration for your home and yard projects. 3M Half Marathon and Relay-January 30th- This race has a different charity each year that receives the proceeds from this race. This years charity is Any Baby Can. Lone Star Roller Girls-Come join the fun and excitementof "banked track" Roller Derby with the Lone Star Roller Girls! The dates change, but the live music and fun are constant. Roller Derby is so much fun they even made a movie about it staring Drew Barrymore and it was filmed in Austin! Visit www.TXRD.com for the latest dates and times!
Nerd Night- There is a monthly informal gathering of Nerds for drinks and fun. Check out their website to get details on the next gathering location www.Austin.NerdNight.com
Stubb's Gospel Brunch-This happens on Sunday as you would imagine. Make sure you have a reservation as this is a popular event and the good seats go fast!
