Yesterday my wife and I visited the house of Benito Juarez, the first non-military man and indigenous person to serve as President of Mexico -- late 1800's. He was from Oaxaca, where we are staying.

In the course of that excursion, boy, did my eyes pop. I had, previously, seen this old tin type photo that my assistant Nutsy Wallenda is very proud of. Frankly, I thought it might be a photoshop by some member of his family.

But imagine my shock when yesterday, in a historical museum in Mexico, I saw this same photo. This is circa 1913 when Villa was still a popular revolutionary with the US government, a position that would change only a couple years later. And the legend follows below the photo.  (This will knock your hat off)

Front right to left: General Pershing, US General who later ran US forces in WWI; Pancho Villa, Mexican revolutionary; Mexican General Obregon. Behind Pershing, George S. Patton assistant to Pershing; Between Villa and Obregon, Millet Wallenda, assistant to Villa, great great great grandfather of Nutsy Wallenda.

Doggonit. Nutsy's got some bloodline. Do you have papers for that dog, or just under him?

Glen,

This is pretty lofty stuff. You really should not make fun of Nutsy.

Michael,

It depends on where you are. In Oaxaca it is great. People label so much of the country by what happens in many of the cities where the cartels are fighting one another and the government. There are safe havens but the news media would not let you know that. For example, down here, the people are shocked by what happened in Arizona last week.

So what happened with Nutsy? Seems like the gene pool has accumulated a bit of algae.

James,

I do not think that Nutsy would appreciate the spirit of this post.

Andrea,

Since you see him, do that and tell him that he does not know which side his bread is buttered on,

Howdy and afternoon to you Steve, Mrs. Smith and Nutsy

Steve, sorry for not getting by before now, and getting behind on visiting your mighty fine blog posts. I'm not at all surprised to see Nutsy's Great Great Great Grandfather's name below the photo. Nutsy just ain't the kind of guy to make things up.

Have a good one
