BlogRush - Get more traffic on your blog

By
Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors

RSS ChickletLook at my latest widget in my sidebar... BlogRush.    it says "From The Blogosphere" at the top.

It's a "Blog Syndication Network."  It is designed to get more traffic on a blog.  Go to the BlogRush website and watch the presentation on how it works.

It's free.

You show a feed for other's blogs and get featured on other people's blogs.  Pat Kitano of Transparent Real Estate recommended it to me.

Either I am getting better at this or it was very easy to add.  It says I can filter out content by URL.....  if I don't want to provide a feed to entries on a particular blog, they are filtered.

Just grab your blogs RSS feed and sign up.

I put it on all my blogs.

Edit:

***** IF YOU took BlogRush off YOUR  blog  remove YOUR feed from BlogRush *****

(Taken from the FAQ)

At this time, we are requiring that you send your request to support@blogrush.com with "Delete Blog" in the subject line, as well as a description of the blog(s) you would like deleted, and we'll manually delete your chosen blogs for you.

If you tried to add BlogRush to a WordPress.com blog and couldn't, your blog is still showing up in the  feed on other blogs.  If you added the widget and decided it "looks trashy"  or removed the html for any other reason and did not follow through and remove your blog from the feed, all it takes is an email.

I have stats now on BlogRush.  I have no idea what above means.  I will have to look at my Google Analytics to see if I have got traffic from it.  There is a graph.  It shows I had traffic on Sunday and Monday but it dropped off Tuesday.

BlogRush's traffic is still climbing though.

Thanks for the comments.

Bill hope you can overcome the technophobe thing.

Melanie: It's under your blog's tags. It looks like the image in this post.  When you click on that image in your sidebar it will open up a screen with a bunch of code.  All your need is what is in your address bar whch should like strangely like the code I gave Jeff T. above.  EXCEPT it will have your blogs url before the /RSS.

re: Traffic... if I have more it is slight, of couse I can't measure here but there may be some more traffic. It will be easier to see in about a week or so.

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!auto comment

No more "great info thanks for sharing" type comments.  This is not much of an entry.  Don't feel like you have to say something.

There are a couple of real comments I have meant to go back and respond to.

Use the widget or don't use the widget. Move along to another blog if all you can add to this conversation is "great info thanks for sharing"

I will just delete any more from this point forward.  They are not necessary.

I don't want to promote that kind of blogging / commenting on ActiveRain or anywhere.  Comments like "great info thanks for sharing"  don't carry on the conversation.

It'sa  waste of everyones time... it looks silly.  I seldom have entries that generate  as many of those kind of comments as this one has.

Geez,

I already have like ten buttons on my blog.  When do you say enough is enough?  Or will it never be enough?  Hopefully my eight year old will be able to handle all this stuff for me in a couple years.  I am growing weary of constant change in the blogging landscape. . .

Thanks Maureen, Went went to the site...am at the point of entering a blog url and have to say...I'm a tad confused what this will do. I actaully did a blog today on skin cancer that I would love to get more attention to in hopes to warn anyone that spends time in the sun to rethink their habits. In fact, since writing this blog, I've learned that SUNCREEN may not be the best solution. Very good info and something I would love to share. I'll keep plugging away and see if I can get this blogrush thing to work :)

Beth sorry about your confusion. Which category are you putting your blog in?  If I was a stager I would I believe use the Home & Garden category rather than real estate if my content had that feel. I guess it depends though on who you are blogging to.  If a stager is blogging to the real estate industry I suppose the Real Estate category would be more appropriate.

Stefan and Bill:

I have seen no increase in traffic.  There is a note on BlogRush stats about why this is happening which says:

"IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Click- through rates are very low right now due to problems with some users cheating the system. We are a few days away from removing all abuse from the system and you will see your click-rates increase. We are also moving to a Manual Review Process for all member blogs which will also increase the traffic you receive. Thank you for your patience -- we're working hard to improve this beta version of our service.

* You can dramatically increase your click-rate (visitors sent to your blog) by learning to create more effective blog post titles.

** We'll be posting many user-contributed tips on how to maximize the traffic from BlogRush, but for now read this article written by a BlogRush user and learn how to increase your traffic:

Do You Make These BlogRush Mistakes? "

I read the Do You Make These BlogRush Mistakes? the other day, I personally am not going to change the way I write headlines to lure in clicks from  real estate blogs in other parts of the country. real estate is local.  I want the titles to work in the search engines for local people to find me.

In one of the emails from Jeff Reese he said some of the categories don't work, he used the Entertainment category as an example, too broad.  I think the Real Estate category will work to a certain extent  for non local real estate blogs, Pat Kitano's blog, BloodHound Blog... the big boys but local blogs I don't know if this kind of syndication is going to bring much traffic.  If I use the words "Central Ohio" or "Columbus" in a headline it will have limited appeal to people outside "Central Ohio" or "Columbus." Real estate is local. I wonder will people reading my local blog click on one of the big  blogs aimed at real estate agents?  Occasionally.

I will try it for at least a month.  Other than "looking trashy" I can't see it hurts my blogs, even with the "cheaters." I have not seen any horrible things on there... I have put in filters but I don't see that they are working.  I may not leave BlogRush on all three blogs in the long run.

I almost did not try BlogRush because I knew that my content, the way I write locally it will not translate to blogs in Florida, CA, VA, AZ, VT and elsewhere.  My blog is a place blog more than a real estate blog but I  decided I could learn about syndication by trying BlogRush and I have learned a lot in just a few days.  I am glad I got to see this from almost the very beginning.  I thought I would  get more clicks than I have though.  I hope they remove the abuse (splogs, blogs that don't have the feed showing but are showing up  on the feed.)

Joan I posted an update earlier today.  Visit WARNING "It's a pyramid scheme"  I show my stats since joining BlogRush.

I have a link on the the new entry to Teri Lussiers entry about those of us who are taking the easy way out to blog traffic by installing the BlogRush widget rather than providing good content.

I think installing the BlogRush widget although it is so very easy may be be a problem for those who are afraid of losing traffic from their blogs.  It is funny though because the traffic is not sent to the other blog, there is less chance for me to lose traffic via an RSS feed than losing a reader who clicks on my links on my blogroll on my ColumbusBestBlog.com  Obviously asthetically BlogRush is judged to look "trashy" by many discerning bloggers.

I personally despite the disappointing traffic think it has taught me some wonderful things about RSS, syndications, social media and blogging.  Can those who don't install it, or uninstall it learn the same things by reading what Darren Rowse, Pat Kitano, Todd Carpenter and others have to say about BlogRush?  I don't think so but that's why I have it on my three blogs.
