Metro Denver REBar Camp

By
Real Estate Agent with Novella Real Estate

Mini Bar CampMetro Denver real estate industry people might be surprised to learn we hold a MiniBar Camp every month at the Denver Board of Realtors.  This group is open to everyone and is free.

Unlike the large, annual REBar Camp, we run this one a little differently.  Each month we have a presenter speak on a topic.  Then we have an open session to discuss the topic further or bring up other technology related subjects.  The session lasts for about 90 minutes.

In January, Jim Renshaw of Land Title will be presenting "How to Get Quality Backlinks to Your Site."  Jim is a popular and experienced speaker on technology.  He runs his own blog and is frequently found teaching around the metro area.

His outline for the class:

  • What is a backlink?
  • Directory Submissions (Yahoo! Best of the Web, SevenSeek, and others.)
  • Video Submission
  • Contacting relevant websites
  • Creating great content

We suggest you bring your notebook, the WIFI is free.

RSVP's for this meeting are being taken at Meetup.com

Meetup is a great site not just for MiniBarCamp but for getting involved with groups who like the same things you like.  If you aren't a member, you can join for FREE!

This is good advice. Do you think its ok for an Appraiser to show up at the meeting?

Hi Kristal~ I was just 3 days too late to find out about this class.  How often do you have them and is there a mailing list I can sign up for to get future notifications?

Bummer Donna!  Go sign up at Meetup.com  join the MetroDenver REBarCamp group.  FYI, it's a closed group only because the spammers were driving me crazy.  Ask to join and I will let you in!

We meet on the Second Friday of the month.  So far the Denver Board of Realtors has been gracious enough to let us use the facilities.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks Margaret,

Actually the idea grew from the obvious need to learn more about technology.  So far we have had an amazing group of people.  Last Friday it was the "who's who of Denver Real Estate" websites in attendance.  Very cool indeed!

KK - What a cool and forward-thinking idea. We could all benefit from this sort of meet-up in our respective areas/organizations.

Hi Jeff, Thanks!  You are so right!  I am finding more and more people want to learn about technology, social media and how they can incorporate it into their own business.  I'm not talking about real estate people exclusively, anyone who owns a small business is game.

Hi Kristal,

What a great idea!

Based on your and others comments, I am going today to my first real estate bar camp in Seattle.

Am looking forward to a full day of information, stimulation and exposure to new ideas and innovative tactics.

Maybe it will lead to other mini rebars in our area as well.

Thanks for your post.

Phil
