Atlantic City Electric Offers Customer Incentives

Atlantic City Electric, which serves southern Ocean County at the Jersey Shore, is offering incentives to take more control over energy usage, save money on energy costs, and take a big step toward a more sustainable lifestyle.

The Company is offering a $50 credit on electric bills if you participate in the Atlantic City Electric Energy Wise Rewards™ Program. There are two options, and each is free, and each qualifies for the $50 credit!

The options are:

AC Electric ThermostatAtlantic City Electric Energy Wise Rewards Thermostat which you can program manually or remotely through the Internet, could save up to 10% annually off your cooling and heating costs and it's professionally installed at no cost to you.

Atlantic City Electric Energy Wise Rewards Digital Cycling Unit (DCU) is a small device installed outside, near your central A/C unit.  It operates automatically and  do not have to be home for installation if your air conditioner is easily and safely accessible.

DCU-Atlantic ElectricAn Atlantic City Electric DCU works by cycling your central air conditioner over short intervals  on selected summer days. During normal cycling operation, your air conditioner compressor runs and rests in recurring intervals to maintain your ideal room temperature.  When Energy Wise Rewards conservation periods (periods of high demand) occur, cool air continues to be circulated throughout your home by the air conditioner fan.

Laura, I like the FREE programmable thermostat idea, I wish they would offer it here. I have been disappointed that they offer very little incentive here to conserve.

Laura, Gee, Wish that they would offer that here in Connecticut.  We are the state with the highest taxes, and highest utilities.  Oh yes, and our gas tax is the highest in the entire country!

Bob-People in NJ always ask first, "What's in it for me!"

Frances- Our gas tax in NJ is the 47th lowest...but we're right behind you on everything else!

Sally & David-That's a good thing!  Back at you (staying warm)!

Laura...I know our local utility companies are offering some incentives also.  It is funny, that the less we use the more they want to boost the prices.

Laura, this is a great post from a local expert!  I like the idea of the local utility companies  encouraging saving energy.

Laura...good for MJ; we have both of these items--installed the outside one 8 yrs ago and just had our 4th inside one installed this year.  They did not break or anything, but when the original thermostat was removed, there was a bad wall repair that needed to be made.  Just found the right person to install one correctly & then our painter fixed the wall.  Viola` new wall with programmable thermostat. Since we are on the yearly budget plan, really don't know the savings, but am certain they are there.  Hope all have this opportunity in the states. They do work well.  Good posting.

William - It's always that way, but I like the idea of reducing our impact on the planet.

Barbara - Thanks!

Barb - I have two zone heating/cooling and have programmable thermostats.  I'm wondering, and you can bet I'll ask, if I get $100 because I'm having the air conditioner limiter installed on both units!!!
