Fair Housing Comes in All Shapes, Sizes and Effects Even the Most Affluent Counties!

.....like Marin county, CA.

Marin county and HUD have signed an agreement whereby Marin will reach out and attract minorities into the 80% White county and encourage more minorities to move into the VERY EXPENSIVE enclaves of Tiburon, Belvedere and Mill Valley.  HUD does not like where they are living now.

Marin is just over the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco * between San Francisco and Sonoma counties as one drives up US101 North out of the Bay Area.

Never mind that there are minorities in the immediate area/counties of Sonoma * I've lived there and rented to them * or Napa county * also lived there and rented to them * or Vallejo which is just over San Pablo Bay * yes there is another bay ABOVE San Francisco Bay.

Since Marin gets $1.7M in CDBG * Community Development Block Grant* funds and $1.2m from HOME to build and maintain low income housing, maybe it can CONDEMN part of George Lucas * Skywalker Ranch * and force him to give up the less desirable areas for low-income housing.

....or they can just not take the $3m from the government!

Wallace, your post proves two things.  The government will never get it right when it comes to housing.  Two, since most will not comment, just shows the industry is still in denial about housing and how the government caused most of this problem.

Good Morning Ms. G.  I agree with with Dale, but we put the politicians in office and it does roll down hill

Good morning Wallace. I agree with what the first commentor said. Will the government ever get it right? I don't think so...

The two areas of Marin where there are minorities have BUS service and ETHNIC good stores, etc.  They have CHOSEN to live there.  There are many more housed on private estates OR seasonal housing for vineyard work; however, I suspect their housing was not counted.

Wallace- Great post. My cousins, who are not white, live in Kentfield a very nice suburb of Marin. They own a business and do quite well. They worked their butts off in order to escape from whence they came. I should warn them.

Kentfield is a BEAUTIFUL area of Marin county...I suspect that affluent minorities did not respond to any government survey
