Although many people refer to this area as Buda/Kyle, each is an incorporated city. Kyle, TX., is located approximately 20 miles south of Austin,TX., on I-35 and 8 miles north of San Marcos. Kyle, TX. is home to almost 30,000 residents, numerous residential communities, and an additional 10,000 platted lots on the way. With farming to the east and ranching to the west, new homes and new businesses in between make Kyle one of fastest growing communities in central Texas. It is the second largest city in Hays County.

Hays Consolidated Independent School District is a public school district based in Kyle, TX.
In addition to Kyle, the district serves the cities of Buda, Hays, Mountain City, Uhland, and part of Niederwald. Located mostly in Hays County, small portions of the district extend into Travis and Caldwell counties.
