If you are a Ski & Snow Board enthusiast, no doubt you have been excited to see Big Air Denver, come here to Colorado. While many make the trek to the mountains on competition weekends to watch locals and top world athletes alike compete, this time you won't have to go too far.
How does Civic Center Park sound?
That's right - today the set up will begin to set the stage for Big Air Denver - a mega ski ramp 101 feet high, 80 feet wide and 300 feet long, in Civic Center Park. This is the first time the annual Big Air event has been in the US, so its quite exciting that it is in Denver. I knew that the set up had to begin soon, as the event itself is only 12 days away now, but I saw on the news last night that the setup will begin today.
It is a 2 day event, January 25th and 26th that begins Mile High Snow Week and also runs at the same time as the SnowSports Industries America Snow Show.
The first night 1/25 is all about big air Freestyle sSiing, with some of the best of the best showing their big air best. On 1/26 it turns to Snowboards and you will have a chance to see the top world snowboarders, right here in downtown Denver.
On top of the snow events, it will be a huge party like atmosphere with bands as well - 1/25, Switchfoot is set to perform and 1/26 is Colorado band, One Republic. The concerts are a part of your admission ticket.
There is also an afterparty on 1/26 at the Bluebird Theatre with touring DJ Ana Sia. Additional tickets are needed for that event.
If you are downtown today or the next few days, stop by Civic Center Park and see how this awesome ski hill is constructed. Or better yet, get tickets to attend the event. A 2 days general admission pass will cost $80. The individual days are $45. Big Air Denver also has a Facebook page, I would suggest "liking" that page before buying tickets, like so many businesses promoting on Facebook, you never know when you may find a promo code or insider info. There are additionally many volunteer positions still available for the event.
Here's a clip from Youtube and its also shown on the Big Air Denver website.
