Wordless Wednesday

Wordless Wednesday -- well, almost!

dawn, Edgewood County Park, San Mateo County CA

Yesterday morning Gene and I took our early morning hike to start the day as we try to do most Tuesdays. Edgewood County Park, in the hills behind Redwood City CA, is about a 3 minute drive from our house in San Carlos CA. Starting in the dark, at 6:00 AM, with headlamps shining, we hiked up to the top of the hill for some pre-dawn beauty. By 7:15, when we returned to the car, we were happy, relaxed, nicely exercised---and HUNGRY! By 8:00 we were warm, fed, dressed and at our computers, coffee in hand, ready to start the business day.

Living in San Mateo County or the Silicon Valley makes morning outings like this possible. If you want to explore whether living here is right for you, give me a call!

Thanks for sharing.  Some of us aren't up hiking early enough to enjoy such a view.  Good for you!

Hi Lottie,

Catching a sunrise is a great way to start the day. Here in New England, it is a real treat to catch the sunrise at the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor Maine. This is the first place in the Western hemisphere touched by the sun's rays every morning. My wife and I return to Bar Harbor every September to celebrate our anniversary and always plan one morning to see the sunrise at the summit.

Lottie, I always think I want to grow up to be you.  You are blessed with so much energy and such a positive spirit.  Never a hiker myself, if I were to try it today I'd be hiking over the latest massive deposits of snow here on Long Island.  And, btw, the only way I get to see the sunrise is if I have insomnia and never made it to sleep.

Carla, thanks for stopping by. Often it's hard to roll out of bed so early--and leave the computer off for a while--but I'm always glad I did.

John, Cadillac Mountain at sunrise would be superb!! And I think Bar Harbor in September would be, too. (It was pretty darn nice in July when I visited once.) What a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary. Wishing you many more sunrises!

Hi Charles -- we really look forward to these short jaunts--at least, once my eyes are open I do!

Geri, my somewhat off-beat ideas of fun aren't for everyone, I admit, but they work for me. I'm certain you have your own ways of getting your day started well.

Hi Tish -- I have a couple of women friends I sometimes head out with for an early morning hike or run. With my husband now working from home most Tuesdays, I figured it would be fun to share an early morning with him--and it is!

Hi David -- it's hard to get out of bed, especially when I stay up too late (most nights!) but it's always worthwhile.

Great shot. It's a little too icy in Maryland for my usual morning walk!

Hi Roy -- yes, I guess you're having a cold spell, right? We think it's cold when it's in the 40s, and complain mightily!
