We've Got a  Blow Going and It Isn't Stopping for A While!

The snow started at just about 10 PM last night with just the faintest of flurries, but we had been warned that is was going to last for a while. At 7 AM this morning we were into a white out situation. A white out is just so much snow so quickly that that's all that can be seen.

So at 11 AM I opened the front door to take a look at the yard, and it's all white.

So let's take a look out the side door at the neighbor's house to see what it looks like that way. Yep, it's white there as well, and I also can't see my driveway.

I wanted to open the doors to the deck but the snow would have dropped into the house, and there is still an 8" step up to those doors.

So let's take a peek into the back yard. Yep, that's white as well as that looks to be a strong 12" deep pile on top of the rail that's sheltered from the wind. Now somebody tell me that spring is just around the corner, so I can feel better, at least before I get out there to do some shoveling. And it's only Jan 12 and we have a while to go before that rodent in PA tells us how much more winter we might get.

We are in Central CT in Northern New Haven county, which is not the snow belt for our state. I'll bet Andrea  has to get to the second story windows to take a photo.

Ed... I hope it keeps snowing straight through to tomorrow.  We need more snow... make up for all the years we got NOTHING!!!.

I'm house bound anyway, so it doesn't make any difference to me.

We always get our heaviest snows when we're approaching spring, so I'll tell you - "Yes, spring is coming!" When we get that much snow my husband shovels off the roof. Is that a common practice in your area?

Valerie, I know your snow bound, but easeup on those meds. Let it stop today and maybe we'll get a fresh coat next week.

Joetta, some people do shovel their roofs, I don't, as we have a high pitch and it tends to flow down before it can become a problem.

Barbara, it's a good day to catch up on a lot of stuff, like a mid afternoon nap.

We've got the same thing going on here!  Had to drive home in it last night when it all started and the wind was the worst part. Made the visibility next to nothing.  Stay warm!

Oh wow....I really can't imagine how the weather does affect your ability to work. It's sunny and 75 degrees outside and we are expecting upper 80s this weekend. Come on out....

Ed, the snow is all finished up over here, now the real fun begins....Looks like you got enough snow to last an entire season, I know we have!

Now off to get some more photos. Too bad we only have one shovel and hubby is using it to dig the cars out. I would help but.....

Kathleen, it's so early in the season and we've already had a winter's worth of snow.

Karen, you poor girl you, please make sure to wear your sun screen

Craig, I went by a driving range yesterday that stays open all year round. Can't imagine walking out there to pick up them errant shots

Cinnamon it is ugly but so warm inside

Andrea I believe the unofficial amount in our area is 18". I've already gone through one shovel.

Hannah, I appreciate your thinking of me, but shoveling along side me would be so much more appreciated.

Ed;  I think the rodent in Staten Island will see his shadow next month and we'll have 6 more weeks of winter.  Sorry.

Ken, I feel tht that might be true but nothing I want to hear when my back is sore from all the shoveling

George, the snow on my deck from both storms is well over 3 feet

Gosh Ed, That is a lot of snow.  We got 8 inches and it was easy to shovel luckily, a light snow.

Any kids in your neighborhood come around looking to make some money shoveling?

Hot chocolate weather!
