When Neighboring States Help Out! Illinois Versus Indiana

My excitement can hardly be held back! Illinois house today approved a HUGE tax increase.  Wow Governor Mitch Daniels is excited, every REALTOR in the state if they are not excited should be.  Home owners wanting to sell are probably wiggling in their chairs like small children from all the excitement.

We heard it was coming but thought, no in these economic times who would raise taxes? But I opened the paper today and there it was the big announcement.  You see in Indiana Governor Daniels was far sighted enough to work to put property tax caps in place and make the government cut back.  I won't go into the whole politics of it but it sure makes it easier when trying to tell people what the taxes will be, They are 1% of assessed value.

With Illinois raising their income tax you can guarantee people if they can sell their Illinois home will be making a run for the border.  The city I live in Valparaiso has a bus line that travels to and from Chicago for those working in the IL area.  We also have the South Shore train in Porter that runs back and forth to IL.  With access to expressways and toll roads Indiana is certainly the best place for those that are sick of paying the government half their checks.

The IL bill that passed in the house would also raise corporate taxes.  SO I say bring on those companies and individuals wanting to flee. Indiana is ready for them!!!

Wow, great news for you.  Glad I am not your neighboring state.

We in Wisconsin were somewhat startled with the Illinois news. It certainly makes us more competitive, too. Might be too early for us to get too excited, since we have a brand new governor and only vague budget proposals based on election promises. The real money is a couple of months away yet.

Our Governor rocks I think he will be running for President soon.  He has us as the only Midwest state not running in the red.  Considering the steel mills are a major industry for us that is great.
