I want to clarify that Juicing is something you do to supplement your eating; making sure you get your required vitamins and nutrients. It can be very high calorie so if you are attempting to slim, be very aware.
OR
Juicing is something you want to incorporate into a Juice Fast. Fresh squeezed juice and nothing else for a 7 - 10 day period. You WILL lose weight and you will notice an incredible difference in your skin, your eyes, your energy level . . . pretty amazing!
DO NOT EVER BEGIN A DIET, FAST OR EXERCISE PROGRAM WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR!
DRINK 1: One of my favourite juices to have during a fast is this re-charging drink. It is a treasure trove of B vitamins, iron, calcium and protein, plus fruit sugars for a quick energy boost. It helps to regulate blood pressure, reduces fluid retention and helps to strengthen tissues and bones.
Serves 1 - 2
1 zucchini
1 celery stalk
handful of baby spinach
handful of alfalfa sprouts plus some sprouts to garnish
2 green apples
(I often use mustard sprouts as they grow fresh in a matter of 2-3 days and they look so fresh and bright - just throw a handful of mustard seed in some dirt and give plenty of water - they grow like those Chia Pets!)
Trim the zucchini and pack into the juicer with the celery. Add the spinach and the sprouts, then the apples. Juice all the ingredients and then pour into glass and garnish if desired with sprouts.
The colour of this drink is amazing and the taste is sweet and fresh - YUM YUM YUM!
Here is another of my faves - still greenish but a lighter shade of pale!
DRINK #2: This one is great for all-round body maintenance as it is very high in vitamins A, B and C, protein and iron. It is also rich in potassium, which helps with normal cell function.
7 ounces of parsnips
3 1/2 ounces of broccoli florets (you can use the stalks if you want but the flower has more flavour)
3 1/2 ounces of peas (these are fun to keep in the juicer!!)
large spring of fresh mint
2 green apples
paprika for sprinkling on top
Pack the parsnips, broccoli, peas, mint and apples into the juicer, then juice all ingred together. Pour into glass and sprinkle with paprika.
I was a bit leary of this one when I first tried it but it is surprisingly good.
Please let me know if you try these and what you think of them.
