Last Stand of the 6-Percenters

I found this really good article in Broker Agent News written by Michael E. Parker (regarding
reducing real estate commissions) which I would like to share with you. Here is just a sentence
from the article "I have learned the true meaning of phrases like "damning with faint praise" and "accentuating the positive." Yet rarely have I seen an entire industry - in this case, Real Estate professionals - dismissed with such casual spin." To read entire article, please click on this link:   Online Marketing: "Last Stand of the 6-Percenters" or Hype?

When I'm sitting out there in my sellers home at 9 pm on a Saturday evening explaining the offer that came in and making out a detailed etimated net sheet it usually hits home that we are working, and hard.  I've rarely worked less than 60 hours a week in this field.  I get amused thinking about salaried agents.  "Oh, you can only look at homes on the weekend?  Well we have one agent assigned this weekend, but he's already booked".  You have to work hard in this job and taking the hard work out will take the care given to buyers and sellers too!

Hi Irena-

Thanks for the link - that is a great article.

People just don't get the point sometimes (well, more often than that actually!).

I just have to shake my head when I hear how anyone charging a "full commission" is "going down".  We've been steadily increasing our rates for a few years now and our business keeps growing.  Hum, we must be doing something wrong.
