Fannie Mae, the Federal National Mortgage Association, has released a new consumer oriented web site designed to help distressed borrowers navigate the process of avoiding foreclosure.  A government sponsored enterprise, it is one of the largest purchasers of home mortgages in the secondary market and its actions have a huge impact on the nations housing market.  There are no commercial traps in this web site.  It is simply a straight forward tool to help homeowners who can no longer make their mortgage payments, or will soon fall into the category.
