One of my favorite quotes that I keep displayed on my desk reads “ There is no reward for finding fault”. Now I ask you isn’t that a great quote? What if everyone was always looking out for the other person’s good? That would sure make for an interesting world; one that is not too likely to happen in our current fallen state.
When a person works in a service oriented industry it takes some inner strength and occasional tongue biting to deal with all the different circumstances encountered. A Realtor such as myself must always find ways to keep the wheel turning no matter what circumstances happen or temperaments fly.
While working a residential real estate transaction there can be many days between the start and the close. However it is typically during the closing of a transaction that a Realtor must deal with any number of different real estate professionals. There can be inspectors, appraisers, lenders or title companies to name a few.
If anyone of these professionals provides faulty or unprofessional service it can create an unpleasant working condition for the Realtor. Sometimes these circumstances can be worked out by the Realtor with the individuals involved. Other times the issue is beyond the Realtor’s influence such as poor customer service or unprofessional behavior.
A decision needs to be made by the Realtor regarding whatever behavior or circumstance has transpired. One aspect to consider is whether or not there was any real damage done such as a loss of monetary value or damage to personal property. If no real damage or harm transpired perhaps it is best for all involved to practice the saying of the quote that there really is no reward in simply finding fault. Afterall in the end we reap what we sow.
When we make a mistake hopefully we learn from it. I guess we wouldn't want anyone to point out our every fault it would drive us nuts, lol.
Hope is our lifeline; where would we be without it. Thanks for your comments, Liz.
So true, Bob, we need to not only learn from our mistakes but also know how to pick our battles; like your comments too.
Words to live by Teral. Just very hard to keep them in mind when you're in the midst of chaos!
Controlling the tongue is mentioned a lot in the Bible. This is one of those things I don't have to ask WHY?
I was thinking about it when my eyes rested on the quote and a blog was written. I think writing about it helps; as Realtors we do deal with lots of different people. Thanks for commenting, Karen.
That verse about bridle the tongue says it pretty plainly, huh, Joni. Thanks for sharing with me; I hope you have resolved your computer woes.
