Bullriding (and other past-times) at the Fox and Hound!
I had occasion this month to enjoy a Sabre's - Coyote's Ice Hockey Game up at the Jobing Arena in Glendale.
My son and his girlfriend, who lived in Buffalo many years, were down from Anchorage to enjoy the holidays AND the game, and invited me up from Tucson. Following the game, we eased into a nearby restaurant to catch the closing minutes of the Jet's Game, and to watch the mechanical bull.
There are always things to do in Tucson, but I was lamenting the fact that the Old Pueblo doesn't have huge, wonderful outside gathering places open all weekend like areas in and around Phoenix. Our ice rink is gone, we're down to one rollerskating rink, I'm not sure what's going on regarding Spring Training Baseball, boo-hoo, boo-hoo, boo-hoo.
That surrounding area with the fountains, resturants and shops, arenas - it just spells F-U-N. I was just a teensy bit jealous that we don't have something similar in our fair town of Tucson, AZ.
So, back to the mechanical bull.
TOMORROW - that is, January 15, 2011, at the Fox and Hound on LaCholla Blvd (and Ina), the 2nd Annual Bar Babe Battle is taking place.
It sounds like something young(er) people might have a real good time at. All kinds of food is going to be available, live and silent auctions, bar servers competing for prizes, and a Mechanical Bull!
Admission is $15.
The money raised goes to Casas Adobes Optimist Club.
The event starts at 6 p.m. at 7625 N La Cholla.
And yes, staying on that bull is T-O-U-G-H!!! (But very entertaining)
So if you're looking for things to do in Tucson this weekend -- Saddle up, pawdner - if you dare!
