Buyers usually start their home search on the internet and go to open houses on their own because they do not want to work with an agent right away. They may just be checking out neighborhoods.

If you go to an open house, remember

1.  The agent at the open house is working for the seller.

2.If you are working with a Buyer's agent please mention it to to the agent when you sign in'

3.If you have just started looking and do not have an agent yet, going to open houses is one of the ways to get to know agents in your area.

4.Read the consumer notice and remember the Consumer Notice is not a contract.

Please ask the agent to explain Buyer agency.

When you read about events please check the year for the event as some people find information a year later and think it is for that year. . The posts remain online even after the event.

Gita--So many first time buyers do not realize this things we find so simple. And many are confused when we ask them to sign the agency disclosure as it is called in MN...thinking it is a contract when it is just disclosing their rights. Good information!
