I scheduled a 'Broker's Open House' for next week. It is in the MLS under the 'tour' heading for Realtors to see. I have used an MLS feature to contact fellow Realtors that have buyers receiving that listing via email should they want to come out and see the property, too.
Last evening, I thought about using my LinkedIn and Facebook accounts to do the same. LinkedIn was pretty simple as you just create an event then select Real Estate professionals from your contact list and send it to them. I followed that up with a similar process on Facebook.
After just the overnight hours, I received a request for more info on Facebook, and two responses on LinkedIn. Since I do a lot of REO properties, it's been a while since I've held a Broker's Open, and I don't really know what the turnout will be, but I think I'll keep the online methods at the top of my 'marketing mind'.
I'm battling the fact that it's also winter - which may effect the turnout - but you never know what will work. Has anybody else tried using LinkedIn/Facebook for open houses of any type and if so, what were the results?

I have found real full motion videos on properties are the best open house and available for buyers in their bathrobes, late at night or early while the crows cackle for folks a few states and time zones away.
I haven't used LinkedIn or Facebook to advertise open houses, yet. But I think your idea of doing so is a great one!
I don't do open houses anymore, but when I did I woud put them on my Facebook and make it a FUN thing. I would offer free cookies/coffee and would have a drawing for a gift card. It brought people in and let me get that face to face with people that I only knew from Facebook. Good luck to you!
There's a whole new subject, Jared and Amanda. Who to 'friend' on social networking sites. But I like your FUN approach. I don't do very many opens any more either - most REO properties aren't suitable for that anyway - but I'm always looking for an edge.
