After 3 years of saying we're going to build a pool we finally dove in and will begin construction this weekend.
After researching on-line and having several estimates locally we have decided to build the pool ourselves. My husband and I have argued about shape size and color for 2 months. We decided to combine our wants and we designed a custom pool. It will be the only one of its kind.
It will have a view to die for. 
For those looking to build a pool there are ways to save a lot of money and get a very nice pool. We are going to end up paying about half. Couple of the sites I used for pricing were:

Just google pool kits, pool liners, etc for more sites. I could not list all that I researched.
You can get a lot of ideas from reading what other do and then come up with your own plan and ideas.
You would be amazed with the money you can save shopping around especially for the equipment like heaters, covers, cholornitaors, pool cleaners and pool pump.
