If you've shopped in the warehouse stores or been in Wal-mart, you know that CFL bulbs are the new trend and continues to grow in popularity.  These amazing fluorescent minis pack a whopping  10,000 hours of use as opposed to the standard incandescent life of only 1,000 hours.

There is no doubt that this method of lighting is here to stay and thanks to new federal laws, we're about to see the end of incandescent light bulbs all together.  The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007  legislation require that all stores begin to phase out incandescent bulbs over the next few years.  100-watt incandescent bulbs will be banned starting January 1, 2012, 75-watt bulbs will be banned in 2013, then 60-watt and 40-watt bulbs will be banned 2014.

Phasing incandescent bulbs out is an important step in energy savings for the US and IKEA stores plan on setting the standard by being the first major retailer that has stopped offering the incandescent bulbs and offer compact fluorescent lamp(CFL's) exclusively.

The goal of energy conservation continues and the future looks even brighter!
