As Realtors we all come from very diverse backgrounds, we don't share the same educations, the same neighborhoods...we are not all Christians or Buddists or Jews or a number of other religions and we don't share the same political demographics. We are not all Democrats, Republicans or Independents as well as other political groups but we all are members of the REALTOR PARTY.
The REALTOR PARTY is the voice of the homeowner. The REALTOR PARTY protects the rights of private homeowners and their rights to private home ownership! This is the American Way, this is the American Dream realized. 67% of American households are owner-occupied but the Realtor party protects the rights of all residents, homeowners and renters as well. The Realtor party acts to protect not only your personal rights and property but our shared environmental issues and quality of our lives.
In Massachusetts The Realtor Political Action Committee has been extremely active lobbying successfully to defeat bills brought forth to mandate that homeowners provide energy scoring on their homes before sale of a property. Not only could this be value effecting on each residence it was anticipated it could cost the homeowner between $300 and $700 per transaction. The RPAC group also successfully lobbied to defeat a mandated environmental disclosure, the paying of transfer taxes on home sales, protecting the federal mortgage interest deduction, defeated a mandated lead inspection for each closing of a property so that it remains an option for the homebuyer to choose if they wish to conduct a lead paint assessment. The Realtors protected affordable housing in Massachusetts by supporting not repealing the current 40B laws. The Realtors on both a state and national level revitalized our housing market by sucessfully requesting an extension to the HomeBuyer's Tax Credit program.
Specific to Realtors, RPAC fought for a defeat of local sign fees on your listings and for both realtors and other professionals fought to defeat the addition of sales tax on professional services in Massachusetts.
2010 has been a fantastic year for the Realtor group which has been amazing in their diligence and unified approach to so many items affecting Realtors and homeowners and occupants alike in Massachusetts.
