Foreclosure filings in North Texas jumped 19% for the February auctions according to Foreclosure Listing Service in Addison Texas.
64,000 homes were posted for foreclosure in 2010 which is up from 2009 and it makes me wonder why we aren't hearing about how the Home Affordable Modification Program also known as HAMP has helped decrease the number of foreclosure postings.
According to the Making Home Affordable website (www.MakingHomeAffordable.gov) the program is suppose to be on track to help 3 to 4 millions distressed homeowner's by 2012. Through the end of October there have been less than 520,000 loan modifications made through HAMP, so unless there is a huge increase in modification approvals in 2011 and through the end of 2012 then it looks like the program will fall short of helping out homeowners from losing their home to foreclosure.
Remember that attempting a loan modification can free if you go through the Making Home Affordable and you can also call your lender and attempt the loan modification yourself.
