BLiz~ I know the birds around your area invite all their friends to come!! Lol!
Roger, True :)
Melissa, Considering the rate they go through seed, I think you might be right! Need to hit Wally World today and restock, we're down to the last bits in our current bag.
We don't get many of those down here Bliz. Looks like she's have a good time eating
Scott, I was surprised she let me get close enough to get the picture! As soon as she heard the CLICK of the Blackberry, she flew off.
I don't recall seeing any here either...must all be in OH enjoying the treats you've made available to them. ;-)
Donne, Not sure Cali has the habitat to suit them, at least not around L.A.!
Anita, Probably some hiding out in the Georgia pine forests...or maybe all that Warner-Robins AFB activity scared 'em off! But the treat factory hanging from our gutters might explain it too!
Now that's a fountain I could really get into!!! I have always loved the Piliated Woodpeckers. My grandmother introduced me to them when I was a small child and they still carry a mistique for me.
Tish, The Pileated are just massive birds. When they're working trees out in our woods, they're little doubt they're around! We usually only see one at a time, and not often, but rarely we've seen a pair together. Amazing to watch!
I've never seen an acorn bird feeder. These woodpeckers are huge.
Gee, i wish i got fed that well by someone else! love seeing the woodpeckers & oh, i do miss woody especially...thanks for the chuckle
Kay, We found the feeders online before Christmas. Would guess the woodpecker's body is about 5" or so? Not huge, but bigger than most of the other birds at the feeder.
Ginny, Turns out there are quite a few Woody Woodpecker cartoons on Youtube :)
Hey we've had an occassional woodpecker here in Phoenix and it's always been quite an odd thing. There was one busy guy who pecked the heck our of one of our biggest cacti ....... the holes are everywhere but he's been gone for at least a year!
AB, We've had people here have to get wood siding repaired thanks to the woodpeckers! Uncommon, but can happen. I'd think the AZ area wouldn't be real popular with the woodpeckers...maybe upstate in the more wooded country.
Love your acorn feeder. We do have woodpeckers here in Maryland.
I can't believe I watched the entire video. Nice way to finish a weekend.
Margaret
Margaret, One of the cool things about Youtube...all my Saturday morning friends are on there, just a few keystrokes away :)
That's a lot of woodpeckers. I wouldn't recognize one if it hit me in the face. I only know it's a woodpecker when I hear the knocking.
Jane, I don't think woodpeckers care much for concrete and palm trees :)
I'm guessing that got you lots of attention :)
