Pineapple Express . . . Hawaii

Pineapple Express

All winter the Weather Channel has described the Pineapple Express, a weather phenomenon, that has brought storm after storm to Pacific coast with the inference that the storms originate in Hawaii.

Being a person who likes to investigate and travel I set out with my husband, Dave, to find the true Pineapple Express. During our recent Hawaiian vacation I took this picture with directional sign indicating the location of the Pineapple Express --166 feet.

Dole

Dole Plantation

While most of the commercial farms that raise pineapples have moved off shore for tax reasons, Dole still maintains this facility as a tourist & educational attraction.

Mary: This is great - love the pic of your husband Dave. I think it's a shame that the commercial farms have moved due to tax reasons.....

Wanda--the pineapples were just wonderful!  I could use every adjective in the dictionary and still come back to wornderful.  I think I ate pineapple amost every day for two weeks.  Then we shipped some back, too.

Ellen--Yes, I have lots of pictures of Hubby & just a few of me.

Tony & Darcy--That is a good reason to go back again, right?  We missed the Wiamiua (SP) Canyon.

Sally--Yummy!

Rebecca--Put Dole on your must see list.  Third time is a charm.  I want another dish of ice cream with fresh pineapple.

Mary, freshly picked pineapple, sooo delicious especially when they get picked at a riper stage and not green like most that get shipped to the mainland. I suspect you could smell them even in the air!

Mary,

I remember a few years here in CA when the storms came though "like cars on a freight train" one right after the other.  I like your pictures of the "Pineapple Express" far better.

You are so right, Silvia.  In fact if I close my eyes I smell and taste the fresh pineapple in my mind any way.  LOL.

Thanks, Steve.  Me, too.  Why do they have to take something wonderful to describe something that isn't?  Back east we get an artic blast or plunged into a deep freeze

Good news:  spring is coming soon.

When my Mom and her childhood friend went to Hawaii she mailed us a gorgeous orchid and a delicious pineapple. These photos look a little warmer than your previous ones :)
