I have to thank Russel Ray for posting the ten principles of Google. I just love Google and all that it has to offer! We should incorporate these principles into our business. Thank you Russel!

My commentary on Google's ten principles

I thought it was interesting when I found a list of Google's ten principles. I think all of us could learn something from them:

  1. Focus on the user and all else will follow.
    Just replace user with client.
  2. It's best to do one thing really, really well.
It's why I disagree with trying to be at every single social networking site that creeps up on the Internet. Focus (see #1) on a few of them (I say three to five) and do them "really, really well."
  3. Fast is better than slow.
I think I had a boss many decades ago who told me that, and in this instant gratification society that we live in, it's only going to get faster before it gets slower.
  4. Democracy on the Web works.
Although there are still some places where it doesn't, but overall, it's probably like politics in America.
  5. You don't need to be at your desk to need an answer.
You also don't need to be at your desk to provide an answer.
  6. You can make money without doing evil.
Huh? Where'd they pull that out? You also make money without cheating, compromising your ethics, violating the law, etc.
  7. There's always more information out there.
There's always more clients out there, too.
  8. The need for information crosses all borders.
The need for great real estate agents also crosses all borders.
  9. You can be serious without a suit.
Finally! Someone besides me believes that! I haven't had a suit on since around 1978, the last time that I worked a 40-hour week under the employment of someone else. That was enough for me!
  10. Great just isn't good enough.
That's because the times they are a-changin', and yesterday's great is tomorrow's average.
