10 Comments on Live From El Cerritto, New Mexico
Emily, thank you for sharing the history of your area. I look forward to learning more!
Emily,
I know this is about El Cerritto, NM, and it is a great story.
I love the picture too! horses are another of my most favorite things in the world. I sometimes find it difficult to think of them as livestock when they work so hard for us humans in so many ways.

Hi Emily, ahh the good old days...Life was simple...People were strong...
Hi Emily - What a handsome face! Seriously...he could sell me a house any day...
Silva - If I had had my yet to arrive Kodak Playtouch, this post would have been more lively. I will keep you updated.
Roseanne - Like you it is hard today to see horses as livestock. Back then, in these village they were family too.
Joshua - What is sad is the village remind but only a few people are their to maintain the church and watch over this tiny community.
Ruthmarie - What amazed me was the way she walked right up to me and the camera. I was walking backwards when this image happened.
Looks like peace, quiet and tranquility Emily! Life looks a lot less complicated!
Amazing photo! Feel like the horse is right there, with you. I love how you are able to sign your photos. Can you share?
There is a lot to be said about the way folks used to live...and I wouldn't mind trying that for a while. Have never visited Santa Fe, but have heard wonderful things about it.
The photo is wonderful...that face!
Fran, of course, here is what I do which may not be what others do. I use photoshop elements today for all my digital work. Ages ago I used photoshop. I like Photoshop Elements because it gives me all I need now for an affordable price. I create my signature by using the text tool and sign my name with a signature font named mistral. The c symbol comes by holding down alt and typing 0169. I then size it and/or change the color of the font. Hopefully, this will help you.
Susan - You know you are welcome to come visit. We have a lot of those beautiful horse faces! There are still parts of New Mexico where the more simpler lifestyle rules. What amazes me about El Cerritto is how relatively quickly after New Mexico became a state in 1912, the political economy changed with the legal end to land grants. People had no money to pay taxes and back then they lost their land. Of course, this same story could be told again today with the economy and seniors. The more things change, they stay the same.
I have only driven through your part of the country, wish I would have had more time to stop and pet the horses!
