This blog topic is borrowed from a radio ad I heard this morning that was challenging everyone to ask questions (http://www.ahrq.gov/questionsaretheanswer/). Basically the radio spot said that we'll ask questions such as "you'll ask the waiter about the side dish." but we won't ask our doctors about the side effects.
Home buyer's should be the same way! Some buyers will do a great job of asking as many questions as needed to help them make the best decision, but other buyers will not ask enough questions.
Let's assume that you've already spoken to a loan officer and have determined what your purchase price will be around. Then you have decided on an awesome real estate agent who you feel can best assist you on your home purchase. Now let's fastfoward to the home you are wanting to make an offer on. Have you asked enough qualifying questions to ultimately determine that this house could be the one? Questions such as:
- How much are the average utilities monthly on this home?
- How old is the roof?
- How old is the A/C & Furnace?
- What schools do this home attend?
- Other than a home inspector what other professionals should I have to check this home out?
