another new high tech tool broadband connection cards!

I just finally broke down and bought a broadband connection card for my laptop.  I have a treo 650, and had thought about upgrading to the Treo 700 to get the same speed, but, it's $39.95/month unlimited, but my phone has to used for the connection. Kinda defeats the purpose of working if I can't make phone calls!

So I went with the broadband card instead.  Wow, this is just amazing.  It's about 2x faster then the base DSL service out there, and I can get to it anywhere...

The thing that pushed me over the edge in buying one was caused by a 3 hour trip to the tire store and oil change place.  I spent the whole time on my laptop, using the slow speed of my Treo 650.  I bet I could have got done in less then 45 minutes what took me 3 hours to accomplish with my slower internet.

TIME IS MONEY!

I am sitting here at Starbucks, getting ready for my soccer game tonight.  If I didn't have the card, I would have had to drive to Panera Bread for wireless, about 15 minutes one way.  I just saved myself 30 minutes of driving.

Starbucks has wireless, but it's expensive and not worth it, since I have to be at Starbucks to actually use it, with this broadband card, I can be anywhere there is cell phone service that has the new high speed data network from sprint.

Highly recommend for those virtual office people.  I think I am only in the office a few hours a week now.

I need to pick up a portable printer next and one of those pen based scanners for my car, then I would be totally virtual in my car.

You know now I should break down and do the same. I do have one of the portable printers it is an HP and it fits right in my Breif case. Pretty cool and the clients are impressed.

I have the broadband card for my lap top and ponder getting a treo.  The broadband is from verizon and if I don't have a good signal it does not work.  It is not something that I take in with me to a resturant with you so my email goes unchecked.  I think that I would be able to keep up with my email if I had a treo.  I am not sure if I want both.

I have a treo 650, and still wouldn't replace it with anything.  It's great to check email when you are not near a pc, but for me, I love to be able to knock out 15-30 minutes of work anywhere I am at...I can't really work if I don't have internet access.

Verizon broadband is slow compared to what is on Sprint. From what I have read, Sprint is about 3x faster overall..

I want my pc for more then just email, want it for sending faxes, setting up property searches, etc.

Update:  My treo 650 broke for the 7th time in a year and a half, they just upgraded me to the new Treo 700!  So I now have broadband on my laptop and my handheld.
