"Inflation comes about because our politicians and bankers create billions of new paper dollars out of nowhere.  It is, in essence, the same thing as counterfeiting, which if done by a private citizen would result in a jail sentence."

                                                                     Nelson Hultberg

Inflation happens because of gubment policy.  Inflation happens because of intentional gubment policy.  Inflation is a disease. Inflation destroys societies.

We should avoid inflation like a bad disease.  There is only one cure for the disease of inflation - reduce total spending and the rate at which spending is growing.

Why is inflation created?  Because it throws everyone into a higher tax bracket.  Why the political reluctance to reduce the spending that causes the inflation?  Because reducing gubment spending causes unemployment, necessarily because reducing causes a temporary reduction in the rate of productive output.

BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GUBMENT INTENTIONALLY GOES ABOUT REDUCING THE RATE OF PRODUCTIVE OUTPUT?  AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GUBMENT INTENTIONALLY GOES ABOUT CREATING NOT BILLIONS BUT TRILLIONS OF PAPER DOLLARS OUT OF NOWHERE TO DEGREES NEVER BEFORE EXPERIENCED BY ANY SOCIETY AT ANY TIME?

The result?  Slavery.  The absolute slavery of the current generation and FUTURE generations to that very GUBMENT which demands obeisance.  And don't think for a minute that such slavery is not at the core of the minds of the current crop of "administration" "thinkers."  This is the very bottom line of the STATIST'S thought.

Obeisance - noun - homage, worship, adoration, reverence, veneration, honor, submission, deference.

Sí, sí Señorita.  And there are too many frogs in the pan who don't feel the water heating up.  I'm speaking of the mooing herds...

Do you hear the theme song to "Rawhide" as I say that?

Hey Jay, socialism won't work. Under their thumb (govt) debt will. They want to keep the debt high so they can manipulate the world financial markets. Look at china, last night they refused to raise the value of the yen. Still undervalued, causing the world money market to free fall to a certain extent. Pitiful simply pitiful.

Jay - As Lenn indicated it's not happening by accident or ignorance.  And when the economy home prices and pay increase many will thank the government for bringing us from the brink.

Jay - the government has plenty of programs and practices that if were done in private enterprise would land the executive staff in prison.

Jay,

We have been slaves to the government our whole lives and most do not realize it, just accept it.

As far as the government intentionally reducing the rate of production, we call those subsidies and the rich get richer, ask Jimmy Carter

Just saying

Enjoy the day

And there seems to be little hope, if any, of a change!  Pun intended.  We're in the middle of that whirlpool and going down for the third time . . .

Clint - Margaret Thatcher said that socialism is great until other people's money runs out!  And China is not as big a player internationally as they are made out to be.

John - that is how it will be couched.  I think there will be serioius dislocations before then - like with gasoline prices causing everything else to increase.  From my view, the housing meltdown began with $100/barrel oil.  Those on the edge could no longer afford their homes, and the waterfall began to cascade.  I could be wrong, but we are getting there again.

Bob - I doubt you want me up there!

Mike - you got that right!  Look at all the millionairs Fannie and Freddie produced!

Don - Jimmy sure made things better!  And he had the nerve to say you and I had a "malaise," and that Reagan was "lucky!"

Tish - that was a bit tongue in cheek!  I don't see a Reagan in the near future to pull us out this time.

Kevin - we have debt sold at 7%, which means it will double every 10 years.  We can't afford what we have now, and in 10 years we won't even be able to afford the interest payments.  They will exceed the productive capacity of this nation.  It is a frightening thought.

Steve - that's pretty much what I said to Lenn above!
