Tech-Know-Babble

Education & Training with Retired Executive Director of Education at eXp Non-Licensed

I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says, "My other car is a Brand Spanking New Model 2.0 Blog." Many of you know that I am a total gadget, widget, and techy kinda guy. When I'm not out trying to find title orders and escrows, or helping my clients find buyers and sellers, I like to dabble with "new" technology, and try to find ways to increase my clients marketing skills with all that's available out there in the cyber-world.

This past week, I have spent most of my extra time creating an outside Blog. One that will focus on Technology and Marketing for the Real Estate Industry. As some of you will recall, I crashed my Active Rain Blog with too many widgets a few months back! So, I have been working on this site to give you more tools, services, tips, widgets, gadgets, advice, target marketing ideas, and much more of what you're use to seeing me provide here on AR.

I spent more time just trying to come up with a name for this Blog, and then it came to me last night in my sleep! Does that ever happen to you? I Woke up, jumped out of bed, and yelled out "TECHNOBABBLE!!" THAT'S IT!!

My Blog is Brand New and still being created and developed, so please go easy on me as I know most of you will. I have plagiarized a couple of my own posts, just to see how it looks. Take a look at it, and tell me what you think. In exchange, I have a new widget to share with you today. It's called WeShow. You can select your topics, and it will place videos into a widget for you to add to your Blog or your Website. (I just added it to mine) It's really kinda cool, and might even create some additional interest from your readers. You should always change-up your Blog, Website, and Profile Page every so often. Keep it fresh! I think widgets and gadgets are a great way to do that, but new content is really the key.

"Hold Your Mouse Over Any Video" or "Click On The Home Improvement Pull-Down and Select Another Topic"

If you are interested in seeing some of the other stuff you can do, check out my new TechKnowBabble , it's only 1 day old and I would love to see you stop by and be my guest. I'm pretty good at accepting criticism, but I'm not very good at asking for it! LOL!! I will be keeping it up-to-date with all the latest and greatest tools and marketing tips! I will have interesting and useful posts on technology and "how to" market yourself in any market regardless of the conditions.

If Real Estate Technology is nothing but Technobabble to you, I hope you'll enjoy my TechKnow Babble Blog! :-)

I had to bookmark this post as I am not the geeky type.  However, I have read some of the other things you have written and you have a knack for making the information understandable on all levels.  Thanks for taking the time to provide this informaiton.  I will try to check out your new blog.

Allen - excellent point! The problem with Blogs on outside platforms is that you can't control the framing. If you check it out now, I have corrected both issues you have pointed out. The problem is that as soon as we post another article, it will push the center of the page past the two frames on the side.  It's just the nature of the Blog Beast! LOL!  If you go see it now, you'll see the correction. Thanks for observing that and for sharing your comment, I really appreciate that! B-)

Nice work on TechKnow Babble, and I hope that others who visit the site really appreciate how much time and effort you've put into it. I like some of the features that widgets can add to our blogs and websites, but will leave a site pretty quickly if it is slowed down by too many of them. That's something we all need to keep in mind - is the extra load time worth the potential value a widget brings to the user?

Janet - thanks for my star!!  That was special!  :)

Dan - thanks!  I got your email, I'll be getting back to you on that later today.  The answer is yes. :-)

Lorrie - Does Allstate offer such insurance?  LOL!  I am the guy that pushes to the very edge.  When I crash my other Blog, at least I'll know what my limitations are...That's just how I roll! Better fasten your seat belt!!

Paula - when we were little kids, these things were called toys.  Now that we're all grown up, they are still toys, but we call them tools!!  LOL! Thanks for your thanks! :-)

Lizette - who ya kidding?  You are the sharpest knife in the drawer!!  My time is managed in a very balanced manner.  6-7am postings and comments, then 10-12pm (ok...sometimes 1:00am) posting and commenting.  The Tech-Know-Babble posts are much simpler, shorter and easier reads...if you believe that's possible from a techy like me. :-)

Eric - you said it!  And that's a mouth full.  You're right!!  Technology should be at the top of every REALTORS® list, but many don't even know where to begin. That goes for the new and the veterans.  To many agents, technology really is just a bunch of technobabble!  Putting it into easy to understand terms and showing them the value and uses is no different than the Doctor speaking to us in lay terms we understand, and telling us how the meds will cure what ale's us.  Not a bad analogy for a guy who's full of tech-know-babble huh? LOL!  :-)

Randy - thanks, I hope you'll come by often.  We'll be updating and posting on a regular basis. If it's new and useful or even educational, it will be on the site.  Thanks for the B.M. and the 5!  When I was younger, we would never refer to bookmarks as B.M. LOL!  :-)  Boy are those days gone!!

Joan - you are so kind and your comment is probably what keeps guys like me doing this.  You don't have to be the geeky type to enjoy the new Tech-Know-Babble blog, it will be a balance of technology, marketing, tips and advice, tools and services and a whole array of instructions and news features.  So, in a nut-shell, it's really going to be geared for the Non-Geeky, and The Geeky!!  and I know that you do pretty good with the geeky stuff, you're just being very humble! :-)  Thanks Joan, you're top shelf!!

John - You bring up an interesting and valuable point.  There is a fine line between too much and the time it takes to load a page. Now days, computer systems are getting faster and better every day, but we still have to consider those that may be running windows 98, or even windows 95 with only 256k memory.  Those systems will have the biggest challenges and frustrations.  Should we cater to the less or the more powerful systems and readers?  Like I said, I think it's a balance and a fine line to the right answer.  I will try to keep our site streamlined to cater to all readers.  It's more than just widgets and gadgets that can affect the pages load time and I appreciate you keeping that concept in the forefront of my mind.  Your comment and opinion are very valuable to me and the success of our new blog. Thank you sincerely for that...guess I better head over and rotate some stuff to keep the site speedy and efficient!  It is a growth in progress...keep me accountable my friend!!  B-)

Anthea - You're the one who is the "Best!" Without you and your comments, support, and very kind words, I wouldn't be here sharing what you seem to be placing such a high value on. It's my priveledge to assist you any way possible in helping you grow your business, your clients and your physical and mental wealth! I look forward to that email next month, and hope I can continue to bring value to you and to other members and clients. Daniel - swimming up the Niagra is a great analogy.  I'm glad you understand and appreciate what a blog like this could mean to those that feel the same way you do.  It will be a lot of work, but the benefits and results will be far greater than the effort and the work that goes into it.  As the technology changes in our industry, so does the rewards. :-)
