Have you ever done a vision board? Do you know what a vision board is? Well, just recently one of my accountability groups decided that we needed to do one. After all, we needed to know WHY we were working so hard, right? Right.
So I sat and thought, and I thought, and I looked through pictures of things that I wanted out of life. I tried to put together something that would encompass everything I hoped to get out of working.
It was actually an eye-opener for me. I realized that I wanted to take what I already have and make it better. I wanted financial freedom, and although money is not the answer to all of life's situations, it sure helps.
So, what I saw as I arranged my pictures on my board was a theme for a better home life. I want to be able to do things that will make my family closer and spend time together. I wanted to teach my kids the things that I enjoy like gardening, boating, and taking care of a home and a family.
I was torn between two states, and decided that why can't I have both? I mean that is what vision is all about right? To be able to see things that you want and put a structured plan in place to get there.
My board is a work in progress. It is done for the purpose of my accountability group, but I have found that the more I look at it the more I think of little things that I forgot to put in there.
It gives me the vision of what is to come in the future, and that in itself is exciting and motivating. So, if you have not done a vision board, I highly recommend you do one. No matter what your profession, it can be a simple or as complex as you like, but do it all the same.
