Ever done a Vision Board?

Have you ever done a vision board?  Do you know what a vision board is?  Well, just recently one of my accountability groups decided that we needed to do one.  After all, we needed to know WHY we were working so hard, right?  Right.

So I sat and thought, and I thought, and I looked through pictures of things that I wanted out of life.  I tried to put together something that would encompass everything I hoped to get out of working.

It was actually an eye-opener for me.  I realized that I wanted to take what I already have and make it better.  I wanted financial freedom, and although money is not the answer to all of life's situations, it sure helps. vision

So, what I saw as I arranged my pictures on my board was a theme for a better home life.  I want to be able to do things that will make my family closer and spend time together.  I wanted to teach my kids the things that I enjoy like gardening, boating, and taking care of a home and a family.

I was torn between two states, and decided that why can't I have both?  I mean that is what vision is all about right?  To be able to see things that you want and put a structured plan in place to get there.

My board is a work in progress.  It is done for the purpose of my accountability group, but I have found that the more I look at it the more I think of little things that I forgot to put in there.

It gives me the vision of what is to come in the future, and that in itself is exciting and motivating.  So, if you have not done a vision board, I highly recommend you do one.  No matter what your profession, it can be a simple or as complex as you like, but do it all the same.

Yes, yes, realizing that the things you want are the things you already have .... you just want to make those things a little bit better ... that's kind of a nirvana moment....   Happy New Year, Pamela!!

I struggle with goal setting.  Maybe I'll take a picture of me setting goals and put that on my vision board.

My family and my health are foremost, the other things will be like icing on the cake!  Good luck Crystal with your board.  It is a fun process!

Joe, not sure if that will work for you, but it is certainly thinking outside the box!  Good luck!

Pam my vision board seems to be covered up with to many real estate post-its.  Time to clear them off and take another look at where I want to be instead of where I am.  Thanks for the reminder.

Cindy, I have to learn that it is a work in progress and get it hung over my desk.  Otherwise I will keep it on the counter and continue to work on it instead of it working on me!

I have been doing vision boards for many years.  The key to the success of these boards is to keep them in a spot that you can look at them and let those wonderful emotions rise and flow with the pictures and words you have collaged.  What we think, is what we get.  The best part is...usually after some time...I begin to look at the vision board and find that I have received what it represented.  That is the big thrill.  Good luck with this....enjoy!!

Love where  your head is with having both states.  You know I want to keep you in Virginia for as long as I possibly can.

Chris Ann, I am working on it.  I'd hate to leave you high and dry right when we get warmed up, especially when you have done so much for me.  You are a great mentor.  (cue the running through the field visual again -lol).
