Why Real Estate Agents Fail
Poor Planning.- Most salespeople will travel three hours across town to meet with a poorly qualified prospect, passing many opportunities on the way. They will walk into a listing or buying opportunity without giving much thought on the plan of action. Winging it as they say, playing it by ear. Planning your time, planning your calls, planning your marketing, planning your goals, planning your future. Most successful salespeople spend more time in pre-call preparation and planning than they do in the actual sales session or interview.
Poor Attitude- People fail in sales because they cannot control their own attitudes. Even after receiving your fourth rejection in a row, your fifth appointment must have as much positive attitude as your very first appointment. You must separate each sales call, each sales event, each rejection and think of it as separate terms. You need to train your mind to react to negatives-the problems, the criticisms, the failures-no differently than you would the success in your sales day.
Lack of Continuous Training-Almost two hundred years ago during the administration of President Adams, the U.S. Patent Office came within three votes of being closed because officials thought everything worthwhile had been invented. One of the problems with real estate agents is that they have closed their Patent offices. What did you invest this year on the inside of your head so you would know what to say when you got there. People who need training never take it. People who are successful are successful primarily because their attitude toward self improvement.
Poor Use of Time- The key to success is not how much time you have but how much you use your time each day. We all have twenty four hours. Successful people realize that every minute of the day is potential for income.
Lack of Specific Goals- If you don't know where you are going, that's probably the reason your not getting there. One of the differences between successful people and unsuccessful people is their purpose in life-their goals. Did you know that after the average person retires at the age of 65 they only live four to seven years after retirement. When we have no goals we have no direction. We are either living or dieing. Set goals
