Green Building - California Tuscan Style Construction- Chico Homes For Sale

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Chain Real Estate Investments & Mortgage, Steve & Joel Chain

The Tuscan style of architecture with it's origins, in the Tuscan region of Italy, are unique and well appreciated. The development of the California Tuscan Style has come to represent the blending of this authentic "Old World" architecture with the conveniences of modern world construction.

One feature that distinguishes the Tuscan Style is the tile roof itself. It is not just the materials. The color, texture and choice of “S” or “pan & cover” roof tiles play a large roll in capturing the California Tuscan style. New tile roof installations highlight the value of today's artisans and their techniques.

Here are a number of examples showing how techniques effect our sense of the Tuscan's historic style. You will notice the mixing of several tile colors throughout the roofscape. This technique is very much a part of creating the "Old World" effect.

Wow Steve this is very informative. I think I am going to call a good friend in the roofing business tomorrow and ask if I can buy him a "cold one" to review the latest building standards and the benefits to the homeowner.

Steve,

This is wonderful information...we love these roofs, we were just talking to our client in Paradise Valley about these tiles, and he is opting for a green roof.  I often think that it would be great to have roofs that have solar panels built in to them, and it could generate power to maintain that home...it is probably on someone's drawing board as I write this.  Thanks for sharing this excellent resource with us.  A

Steve  Your report is very thorough.  Tile or shake roofs are not very popular here - I rarely see them

Doug,

Thanks, Roofing and reroofing have REALLY changed with the new codes.  Those changes provide substantial value in some of California's extreme weather climates.

Enjoy,

Steve

Alexandra,

Many thanks;  roof mounted solar panels are great.  It takes some unique engineering to accomplish with a tile roof, but well worth the effort.

Best,

Steve
