Animal Rescue Survives Storm in Indian Trail, NC just southeast of Charlotte, NC.

I was reading the Union County Weekly this evening and found this very interesting article.  I had no idea that there was a rescue group for Carolina Waterfowl.  This non-profit rescue group is located at 220 Garmon Road in Indian Trail, NC.

The article shared how cold weather drives birds out of their normal habitats.  They went on to share how someone had brought in a barred owl, a mallard duck and a Canada goose.  They also related that the biggest threat is to birds who find their ponds and lakes iced over like the blue herons and swans.  These birds start wandering around and are at great risk.

Their website... www.carolinawaterfowlrescue.com offers great information on what to do if you find a bird and how you can help.  Their number is 704-668-9486.  Contact them if interested in volunteering.  They need help.

Hi Rob, I have such a heart for animals.  I am actively involved with Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue and have three of my own Boxers.  I had no idea that their was a rescue group so close to Charlotte that rescued wild birds.  Had to share.  Wishing you a wonderful day and have fun with all that you do.

Hi Judith.  That is so sad. I'm glad someone is looking after our feathered friends.  They don't love the cold anymore than we do....

Great efforts to protect the birds!  When the oil spill took place so many of these valued animal protection groups stepped up to retrieve the birds and wash oil off them, help patch them up.  Amazing dedication.

Hi Belinda, during the ice storm I went out and dug up the snow and ice so that I could place seed on the ground around and under the trees.  I felt so bad for all of the beautiful Cardinals and other birds.  Thanks for commenting on this post. Have a wonderful eve!

Hi Connie...I hope you had a great day.  My heart broke when I saw all of those precious birds stuck and covered in oil.  Those workers are a blessing and I agree o dedicated.

Hi Juli,  to me there is something so special about animals and they touch a soft spot in my heart.  During the ice storm I couldn't help but think of all of the animals outside without shelter.  Was glad to see that this rescue group is right here.  Have a great day!
