Wake County, NC Real Estate, Heading off to the Southern Ideal Home Show!

This weekend the Fall, 2007, version of the Southern Ideal Home Show will be held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh NC.

Visitors will see three buildings full of the latest trends in home construction and decor and will be able to speak with vendors and company representatives.

Among the participants will be contractors, designers, retailers and wholesalers of building products, kitchen and bath remodelers, painters, landscapers, and accessory providers.

I like going into the Dorton Arena just for the natural light flowing into this architectural icon, and how it brightens the displays of landscaping, and other outdoor living products.

Raleigh, NC. Dorton Arena,

I was into the Jim Graham Building yesterday and my friend Rob Powell of Carolina Yard Barns had a crew working on some of their high-quality yard storage buildings.   Check out the 16" on center studs, the OSB sheathing, and the Tyvek wrap.  Rob said this building will receive HardiPlank fiber-cement siding.

There will even be a REALTOR or two present!

My Home Show display

The display needs a few chrysanthemums to add a little color.  I may give away a little candy at the podium for visitors.  It is a great opportunity to meet people, and although the hours are long, I enjoy it and get energized to plow into Fall business...and to plan for the Spring show.

Hi, Susan

Yes, I will be there the whole time.  If my wife comes out, maybe I'll take a few minutes to grab lunch and go from there.

This will be (I think) my eleventh trade show, and I really do enjoy them.

See you there?

Mike,

Have fun - the commercials for this show have a catchy jingle that can stick in your head.

Rita,

"Your Home...Your Way..."

They have stepped up and modernized the ads a little.  A competing show came through this summer and I think it got their attention.

Dick,

Thanks for stopping in!

Yes, the Dorton Arena is definitely a cool building and an historical icon in its own right.

Report from Day One:

My feet hurt.  My throat is sore.  And I had a blast!  But I always do.

"Ma'am, We're running a special this weekend.  We are giving away a free business card with a custom portrait, suitable for framing."  Some people crack up immediately, and some are fun to watch as their lights come on slow like at the theater...

Just watching people while working a show will put a smile on your face.
