The New York Times will no longer charge an access fee for most of its content.

You can read the full article HERE.

Not having easy access to the print version of this newspaper and other leading publications, this is great news! With the changing real estate market and shifting business models, The New York Times online can be another go to source for keeping real estate agents up to date.

The article sites an anticipated increase in ad revenue by making the site free - I wonder how many other companies currently charging a fee for content will follow suit?

That's great news!  I like to sometimes browse the Times on-line for news, but also to check out the Home & Garden section.  Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for the info Debbie, ironically they are not advertising that to the consumers here in NY.  I have a weekend subscription that I don't get to read in full until Wednesday.  I might cancel and start reading on-line.

Thanks Kathy and Toni for stopping by. It is rather ironic that they aren't shouting this from the roof tops! <G>

Hi, Debbie - It's probably being underwritten by some of their millionaire leftists political groups!  lol.  Anyway, thanks for posting the news.  And thanks for commenting on one of my posts yesterday.  I enjoyed reading your profile, and you made me want to put Missouri on my travel schedule for next July 4.  We've been to Hoopeston Illinois for the Sweetcorn Festival twice now, and loved it.  One of the joys of retirement - we get to travel when we want (and my business always picks up when I'm away... funny thing).

Huh - I've been reading the NY Times online for free for several years now.  Maybe I was grandfathered in or something when they first went on the web.  Who knows.

Christina - Thanks for stopping by. FREE is always GOOD! I was able to read the headlines but often, when I tried to dial into more articles or a special section, I was told I had to subscribe. Perhaps you are right, if you registered in the early days of the site, you might have been given a free pass.
