Chinese New Year's Eve, a day where Chinese families gather for their annual reunion dinner,
is known as chú xī (除夕). It literally means "Year-pass Eve".

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
The origin of Chinese New Year is itself centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions.
Ancient Chinese New Year is a reflection on how the people behaved and what they believed in the most.

Hi Susan - We have lots of Chinese New Year celebrations in the Greater Toronto Area.  Some restaurants have celebrations that go on for a month.  Enjoy celebrating in Gananoque!!!

Marc -  I think the GTA has more chinese restaurants than we have people  here in Gananoque!!  You could party hearty all month long :0)   You have a good celebration too.

When I lived in D.C they had many celebrations in ChinaTown...here I haven't heard of any...but, we only have one Chinese restaurant.

Hi Rebecca -  I've been to a few of the big China Towns in our major cities and the celebrations are just fantastic.  I'm giggling at you having only 1 Chinese restaurant only because we have 2 !!    Gotta love small towns/villages.
