Denver is a fun place to live! Proof of that fact is under-construction right now, downtown on the lawn of the Civic Center.
Crews are busy building a ramp for an International Competition of skiers and snowboarders. This gigantic ramp dwarfs the nearby buildings as it towers into the sky.
This event is a big deal. Big Air in an International event that has been held around the globe. It's debut in Denver is the first time the event has been held in the U.S. Of course the Denver location is a natural, as Colorado has the best snow on earth and the most fanatical fans of snow sports!
Big Air actually is the kick off for Mile High snow Week and the Snow Sports Industries America Snow Show. It's going to be an awesome week here in Denver for snow fans!
It can easily be seen from Colfax or Broadway. In fact it's so impressive it's a traffic hazard!

There are other challenges faced by this event. Denver temperatures aren't supportive of keeping snow from melting. At night the temps are under freezing, but during the day our wonderful sunshine becomes the enemy!
Of course Colorado is no stranger to making snow. Snow machines have been working all night blowing snow. Take a look...
Tickets to the event are a tad pricey, but if you use the Promo Code 15offbigair prior to paying for the tickets the price comes down to $30 for one night. There's a 4-pack available for $99.99. (I got this info from Facebook, so you should confirm it there. I've heard of some bogus ticket sellers so beware!)

For more information about this event, visit the Big Air Denver Site. I hope to see you there!

Kristal, sounds like a great fun event. I would have loved to be there for it and drats, I'll be missing it y just a few days. I'm scheduled to visit my kids in Denver just a few days after.
KK - WOW, that is so cool. I don't do any of that wintry on snow kid of stuff, but I sure appreicate those who do. This should be a great event to watch - hope it will be on the tube.

I agree the best seat will the the toasty warm one in front of the flat screen! Of course I'm assuming it will be televised!

That looks scary! I'm such a baby though. I'd take the toasty warm seat in front of the TV too. Guess I'm getting old.
Kristal. That is so high. I wouldn't have the guts to slide down that crazy thing. Should be a great event.
I didn't know about this event. My husband works down town (Qwest building) but doesn't talk about what's going on too much. Fun!
