Big Changes at Google! What does that mean for ActiveRain?

Google
So I'm sure you've all heard about the management changes at Google that was annouced last night!  In case you haven't, here's what was announced: Eric Schmidt will transition from CEO to executive chairman, Larry Page will take over as CEO, and Sergey Brin will work on strategy and product development.  So what does this mean for us Active Rainer's?  Not really anything.  I believe that there is a Strong desire for websites and search engines competing for business of advertisers!  See, right now I think that Google is competing with Facebook and Twitter for advertiser's business.  When Google was first started, Sergey Brin and Larry Page were both not only masterminds of technology, but they were in separable.    They teamed up with Millionaire and investor, Eric Schmidt, to make Google the most utuilized search engine in the world!  Now, Facebook is becoming competition for Google in terms of getting advertisers to spend their advertising dollar on their search engine.  So along comes Mark Zuckerberg and his Social Network, Facebook, which is invisible to the Google spiders!
So where are advertisers going to spend their advertising dollar?  Will it be Facebook or Google?  As an advertiser myself and an Active Rain user, I have found much success on Google.  There is definately some things going on with technology that are going to change the way that we all spend our advertising dollar, but I'm going to stick with what I know works:  Blogging on ActiveRain and getting business from Google.  (And other search engines:  If there are any left!)  Now don't get me wrong:  I'm not saying that I won't use Facebook.  I'm just going to utilize the business that I know works with AR and Google.  I also think that Google will change as the advertising market changes with the different social networks.  So for now, I'm going to stick with what I know works:  Blog on AR, and keep costs down.  I may experiment with Facebook and build a couple of CPC ads with Facebook, but I am staying loyal to Google and Active Rain!  Sorry to break it to you Facebook!  I just believe in Google and Active Rain!

I agree with you Tim.

I always stay with what works until it proves me wrong.

With the high cost of money these days you have to be really careful and advertising dollars can be wasted very easily.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for this perspective.  Being new at the game it is helpful to learn what more seasoned (professionally only) individuals see.  And, I would gues that playing in both fields is okay too.

Timothy,

You have a 55 YO guy, Schmidt, who arguably has accomplished what he set out to do at GOOG, and is turning over the reins to one of the younger guys, Page, who was smart enough to enlist Schmidt in the first place.

It all sounds like an orderly approach, with little impression given that there will be huge changes in GOOG operations.

It'll all be mute when Google owns both Facebook and Active Rain after they gain world domination.

Thanks for the comments everybody!  Seems like we are all aware of the changes, and that the changes aren't changes to us and our business, but more changes to Wall Street and the CEO's!
