It's Not Just What I Do To Make Money

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential

A fair number of my personal friends are real estate people.  They are the people I have worked with over time, prior offices as well as my current office.  Real estate people move around.  My license has been with 3 different offices since 1998 when I began selling real estate in Dallas.   Some of the people from each office have continued to be part of my life.

Next week is my birthday.  I am being taken to dinner every night next week by someone who called me because they knew it was the week of my birthday and they wanted to help me celebrate.  Half of those meals will be eaten with real estate people.  How cool is that?

Today is the funeral for the spouse of one of the back-office people from one of my prior offices.  When he died, I had two phone calls and a text message from people who wanted to make sure I knew.  Then a 4th person phoned to see if I wanted to ride out there with her.  I took her up on that office.  The funeral is in a suburban area.  It is currently about 25 degrees.  In Dallas.  I am sure that somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of the people who will brave the cold will be people from that office.

I go to the theater with a real estate friends.  I am scheduled to see something in early February.  I work out with real estate friends.    Last week another real estate friend asked me to go with her family to the symphony.

I have been doing a new-year clean-out-the-closets and my real estate friends are the ones who are there for me.  I needed another opinion about my stuff!  A precious 30-something from my current office gave me several hours of her life to help me sort through my closet.  She helped me get rid of things that were too old or too dated.  I am to a stage in life where vintage is beginning to make me uncomfortable.  I am afraid that people will think that I have had those items since they were brand-new!  So, my friend helped me ungranny my closet.  Another friend sat with me while I cleaned out craft supplies.  With her help and encouragement, I got rid of supplies that I don't need, projects that I am not ever going to finish.

You know what they say it takes being a good friend to make a new friend. It sounds like you have been a good friend to many. Your friends vary in age and experience. You much have touched many lives over the years to have so many keep in touch. Enjoyed your post.Have a great day!!

Judith--There are great people in this industry and it's to be expected.  We help people through some of the biggest decisions they will ever make.  A great sense of compassion must accompany anyone who is going to succeed and stay in this business.
