Strange Email Behavior - Is it Just Me?

This week I've noticed something really odd with my email, and with email from Active Rain in particular.

Mail is being delivered late. Not just a few minutes late, but a whole lot late.

I'd noticed several weeks ago that some email from a friend was being sent in the morning and arriving in the afternoon. I thought maybe it was because he was forwarding things, or because he was mailing the same thing to a large number of people.

Now, this week I'm getting notices of new comments on Active Rain - more than a day after I've read the comments and responded to them.

The one that just arrived in my in-box (at 11:30 p.m. on Friday) is dated on Active Rain as being posted at 6:32 a.m. on Thursday!

Is it my email provider? Are messages getting "stuck" somewhere in my computer? (Hey, I'm no techie, I have no idea what's possible.)

Or is everyone else experiencing this oddity?

Just curious.

If anyone knows why this happens, please tell me!

Nope.  It's not just you.  I posted this on the 17th (Is Anyone Receiving the Same Comments Twice?) and sent a link to the post to AR staff.  Got an email from AR staff today saying "Hi Charita, Thank you so much for letting us know! I'll forward this to our developer to make sure he's made aware of it."

Me too! Mine have been showing up out of order. Comments from yesterday showing up hours after comments from today. Strange.

Charita - Guess I missed your post on Monday. Maybe that's what's happening here and I'm just forgetting that it's "doubles." One comment that came in earlier this evening came in a second time right after I replied to it - but that wasn't the case with the one from yesterday that arrived tonight. I had answered that yesterday.

Mark - I guess it's OK, as long as we know there are some comments to answer, we'll go to the post and reply to all of them, even if they haven't shown up in our email.

Art - Yes it is. Sometimes I think it's because I really do need to get a new computer. Other times I blame Wild Blue. (Easy to blame them for everything. I'm usually cross at them because they advertise high speed and it's so darn slow!)

Marte what seemed to be happening with me is that I'll get the alert when a comment is posted, then their is a email in the middle of the night (same comment alert) and then around 5 or 6 am I get yet another alert for the same comment.  Hopefully they will have it fixed soon.  It's just a little annoying especially since our email inbox are so cluttered anyway.

Charita - yours is worse than I'm getting. And yes, it is a little annoying, especially since we don't usually want to ignore a new comment and might only "think" we've seen that one before.

I don't think I'd want to be a programmer and have to figure out the "why of it" when these strange things happen.

Hi Marte - I noticed this problem a couple of times but not consistently.  I have also heard about the problem from other members.

Same here.  I will have several comments but won't know it unless I look at the post...the emails show up a day or two later. Growing pains?

I've noticed the comment notifications have been walking out of the proverbial mist days past when the comment was made as well.  It's a bit aggravating.

Maureen - that's even stranger.

Barbara - I've had a few errors when I tried to go to a blog and got an error - but when I tried again it was fine.

Marc - No, it doesn't happen with all the comments, just some of them.

Susan - I expect you have the right idea - it's probably just growing pains.

Chris Ann - No "leftovers" in my in-box yet this morning - so maybe they've gotten it fixed. That would be nice!

I have noticed that I have been getting emails 12 to 14 hours after some comments.  Odd.

And it happened this morning again.
