Is there anyone out there like me?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Gwynn Teal Carpenter-Broker: Home and Hearth Realty (Austin)

Have you ever had a client tell you that they want a Realtor just like you when you are referring them outbound?  How do you find a "clone" of yourself in the other parts of the country?  Where do you search?

We all identify ourselves in many ways....but how do you identify yourself so your personality comes through on-line?  We've got to be more than just the community you serve, how many transactions you do per year or awards that most consumers know nothing about...our bio for the world to see should give a hint at our lovable side.

So as I search for that agent who will laugh at my client's jokes, hand hold them through an emotional move and remember to be more than just a Realtor....look over what is written about you and make it be more than just numbers.

Good morning, Gwynn....every referral is a "shot in the dark" because one never knows if the personalities will mesh....all of the accolades in the world mean nothing if the personalities don't work well together.

Gwynn I agree, clients will feel more comfortable with someone who isn't all about the numbers. Relationships need to extend beyond just saying how great someone is.

People in general want to be with others who share the same values, beliefs. etc. I try and make my website a reflection of me...I wrote it from the heart. My biggest thing is I probably should have some numbers, lol! Good post!

Home is where the hearth is.

Active Rain is a good place to search for that like-minded agent.  Read their blog, learn what makes them tick, and how they approach their real estate sales and clients.

Hi Gwynn,  Excellent post.  Active Rain gives us an opportunity to know agents in other areas before we refer our precious clients to them.  I want someone who treats them like I would.  I want the transaction to be as smooth as possible.  I want someone who will keep my clients informed and hold their hand so to speak, give them the reassurance I would.

I want to rest easy at night knowing they are in the hands of a capable, caring Realtor. Another testimony coming from them that I helped them even in a distant transaction by leading them to the perfect agent there.  That's priceless!

Hi Gwynn

I can see that ActiveRain is a good place to search.  I have also searched through my CRS directory and ABR directory in the past.  If you are part of a large real estate network you can locate agents on that web site.  Wherever I search, I still visit the agent's website and try to determine beforehand, as much as one can, how good of a fit they may be for my client.  I have had good success with these methods.

Gwynn...I do see in just the small amount of time I've been on Active Rain that it would give me a "fuzzy/warm" feeling to refer someone to an agent on AR than it would to refer someone out of a referral book. I think that when I'm able to read blogs from other REALTORS it gives me a glimpse into their personality and helps me know if they would work well with my client.

Gwynn,

This is your third post, but isn't that splashing still going on?  You are so succint in your blogs--you say what needs to be said, and move on.  Again, something I continue to work on.

I have read all three blogs, and they were a good use of my time.

As you offered to be of assistance from the Great City of Austin, TX, I extend a reciprocal offer from the Music City.  Texas & Tennessee have a long history of being of assistance to others, and as you know, that is how Tennessee became known as the Volunteer State.  My son-in-law taught high school math in he Dallas-Ft. Worth School System when he met my daughter.  The moved to Nashville in 2004, and now he serves as the Youth Minister for the Church of Christ in Maryville, TN.  They are parents to four of my nine grandchildren.  As I type this, two of my other grandsons are playing upstairs--that is where I headed.
