365 Tips To Becoming A Successful Realtor®

Tip #103 - Build a Team

I just finished the Keller William Recruit Select class last week and my head is spinning with new ideas. The premise behind the class is that the only way that you can reach the highest levels of mega agent performance is to leverage your self with a team. Here are the three top tips that I walked away with (If you want more, you will need to take the class!)

Vancouver WA Real Estate - Mark Hall

1. Only allow top producers to be part of your team. The key to any high performing team is to only have the best people. You have heard the saying, "One bad apple can ruin the whole basket?" The rule applies here.

2. Always be looking for new talent. D.R. Whitson, our instructor for the class, says, "Recruit always in all ways." You never know what is going to happen with a member. You will need to have back ups for those times when you lose someone.

3. The time to start is now. When asked about the right time to start a team in relation to sales volume, D.R. responded, "Which comes first? The chicken or..?"

Best of luck in building a top performing team in 2011!

Mark - Teams have tremendous opportunities to do things that single agents just struggle to get done.  BUT ... there is a team personality - some people are team players and others are rock stars ... top performing team players ... light up the universe; a team of rock stars ... not so much!

Thanks for sharing your insites ...

I've heard other agents ask about the advantages of a team.  Sounds like this course would be a great one to recommend.

In the last week I've hired a transaction coordinator, a buyer's agent (Working on finding another one) and the a short sale negotiator. I will become that mega-agent!

Mark, I both agree and disagree. And as I try to write this I end up getting into an entire blog. Teams can be great, but should all agents move from an agent position to a management position? It's worth considering before you launch yourself on a trajectory of no return.
